  • Patent number: 6144763
Abstract: A color image data compression coding apparatus of the present invention includes a signal processing section for processing RGB (Red, Green and Blue) color image data input from an imaging device to thereby output YC (luminance and chrominance) image data consisting of luminance data and chrominance data. When a monochrome mode is set by a system controller, the signal processing section fixes the values of chrominance data to zero. The luminance data and fixed chrominance data are written to a frame memory and then sequentially read out of the memory in blocks component by component. A compression coding section codes the image data red out of the memory by use of a JPEG (Joint Photographic Coding Expert Group) system. As for the coded data of the chrominance data, Huffman codes are assigned only to DC components and EOB codes.

  • Patent number: 6111987
Abstract: A device for coding picture data by compression, and a method thereof. By preprocessing, the device calculates a picture activity of one frame of picture data. A quantizing table circuit selects a particular quantizing step matching the picture activity and sets it in a quantizing circuit 32. On a first path, one frame of picture data is fed to a discrete cosine transform (DCT) circuit to be thereby subjected to orthogonal transform. The quantizing circuit sequentially quantizes DC components, low frequency components and high frequency components of the resulting output of the DCT circuit in ascending order of frequency block by block according to a quantizing step set therein. The picture data from the quantizing circuit are coded by Huffman coding while a code counter counts the coded data. The quantizing step set in the quantizing circuit is updated on the basis of the amount of coded data and a target amount of codes.

  • Patent number: 6099919
Abstract: There is disclosed a method of manufacturing a dielectric filter in which the dielectric filter can be manufactured in a short time, machining accuracy is raised and a cutting tool is prevented from being easily damaged. First in a degreasing process (S1), a surface of a porcelain element body 2 is cleaned. In a surface roughing process (S2), in order to enhance the adhesion of a plating layer to be formed later, the surface of the porcelain element body 2 is etched to form a rough face. Subsequently, after a catalyzer layer is formed entirely on the surface of the porcelain element body 2 (S3), a portion of the catalyzer layer is removed with an ultrasonic cutter (S4). Then, formed is a region on which an insulating region is to be formed. Subsequently, in a plating process (S5), a conductive layer is formed on a region other than the insulating region. The dielectric filter is thus manufactured. Since the catalyzer layer is thin, it can be removed in a short time, and is superior in productivity.

  • Patent number: 5911006
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for controlling the quantity of codes representative of image data are disclosed. Image data representative of a single scene are thinned and then subjected to orthogonal transform in order to generate transform coefficients. The transform coefficients are normalized in accordance with the initial value of a normalization factor and then coded by compression. The quantity of the resulting codes is compared with a first target value. A value of the normalization factor corresponding to the first target value is calculated on the basis of the result of the above comparison in accordance with a relation between the normalization factor and the quantity of codes. Subsequently, the entire image data representative of a single scene are subjected to orthogonal transform, and the resulting transform coefficients are normalized by the above value of the normalization factor. The transform coefficients normalized by this normalization are coded by compression.
