  • Patent number: 6977652
Abstract: A polygon rendering device carries out a polygon division process for generating, based on polygon data which specifies a polygon to be rendered, a plurality of partial polygon data each specifying one piece of partial polygons which are obtained by dividing the polygon. Then, a rendering process is performed based on the generated partial polygon data so as to generate image data which represents an image of the polygon. Here, each of the partial polygons includes a plurality of triangles which respectively include a vertex of the polygon, and each of the triangles included in each of the partial polygons shares at least one edge with at least one other triangle included in the same partial polygon. In such a manner, the polygon rendering device can render polygons at high speeds.

  • Patent number: 6975479
Abstract: There is provided a technique for controlling drive of a voice coil motor which can select, with priority for effective reduction, any one of heat generation and EMI noise which are presumed to induce a read/write error and for simultaneously realizing the positioning control of magnetic head with higher accuracy during the tracking operation and the high speed access with shortening of the seek operation period. The magnetic disc storage apparatus introducing this technique is provided with a mode to drive with linear control a coil of the voice coil motor from both terminals and a mode to drive one terminal of coil with linear control and the other terminal with pulse width control. Thereby, the coil is driven in the drive mode of linear control during the tracking operation, while one terminal of coil is driven with linear control and the other terminal with pulse width control during the seek operation.

  • Patent number: 6937429
Abstract: In a magnetic disk storage apparatus, when power supply is stopped, a magnetic head can be retracted safely and quickly so as not to be damaged. There are provided a back electromotive a force detector that detects back electromotive forces developed in coils of a voice coil motor for moving a magnetic head when power a supply is stopped, and a brake controller that judges a movement speed of the magnetic head from the detected back electromotive forces, and brakes the voice coil motor when the movement speed is greater than a preset first limited speed.

  • Patent number: 6906269
Abstract: When a control lever is slid to move a driver housed in a quadrangular case in a given direction, the movement of the driver allows the driver to push one of resilient legs of movable contacts corresponding to the direction of movement. This movement resiliently slides the corresponding movable contact along an inner surface of the sidewall of the case and brings the movable contact into contact with a corresponding fixed contact. This structure can provide a multi-directional slide switch of low profile that has a small number of members and is easily assembled.

  • Publication number: 20040068059
Abstract: A high molecular weight aliphatic polyester copolymer, a high molecular weight aliphatic polyester copolymer containing polylactic acid; process for industrially producing these copolymers; composition of these copolymers; and various uses thereof. These copolymers have practical properties which make the copolymers moldable. They are free from the problem of plasticizer bleeding and can be degraded by microorganisms present in soils or water. They give moldings, such as sheets and films, which combine a sufficient strength with tear resistance. When the copolymers are ones having a branched structure, they give a molding having excellent mechanical properties. The moldings obtained from compositions containing either of these copolymers are excellent in elongation and biodegradability and have a satisfactory balanc therebetween. In particular, blending with one or more other biodegradable resins gives a molding having better moldability.

  • Patent number: 6650253
Abstract: In a map display device, a surface storing unit stores surface information which defines a curved surface having a form that depends on positions of portions of a map which are to be enlarged and/or contracted. A mapping unit maps the map onto the curved surface defined by the surface information. A projecting/displaying unit projects the mapped map onto a flat virtual screen, and displays the projected image. Here, by defining the curved surface so that each part of the curved surface forms an intended angle with a line of sight in the projection, the image is displayed with desired portions enlarged and/or contracted, while maintaining connections of roads. The same effect can also be achieved by projecting the map onto a virtual screen having the form of the curved surface.

  • Patent number: 6633013
Abstract: A lever switch includes a case having a common contact and fixed contacts provided on inner wall opposite to each other. A movable contact made from elastic metal and shaped like the letter “M” has an intermediate section that comes into contact with the common contact. A first arm extends from each one of both ends of the intermediate section. Each one of the ends of the first arms forms a folding-back section, and a second arm is formed at the end of the folding-back section. A contact formed at the end of the second arm comes into contact with the inner wall of the case. Rotation of the lever slides a slider on the bottom plate of the case, and a pushing section provided at each one of both ends of the slider brings the contact into contact with the fixed contact or leaves the contact from the fixed contact.
