  • Patent number: 5231914
Abstract: A variable displacement swash plate type compressor is suitable for use as a refrigerant compressor for automobile air conditioner. The compressor includes pistons, an oscillating member for driving the piston, a rotating member for oscillating the oscillating member, a plate member for imparting a rotational force to the rotating member, and a main shaft connected to the plate member. A member, having a spherical or cylindrical surface portion and a flat surface portion, is provided between the rotating member and the plate member in such a manner that it is slidably in contact with both of the rotating member and the plate member. Also, movement of the oscillating member is defined by contact of the oscillating member with a stationary member. Consequently, it is possible to provide a variable displacement swash plate type compressor which assures reliable capacity control at a high-speed rotation and which vibrates and wears less.

  • Patent number: 5137437
Abstract: A scroll compressor has an orbiting scroll which operatively meshes with a stationary scroll to define compression chambers therebetween. This orbiting scroll is driven by an electric motor through a crank-shaft, and makes an orbiting movement while being prevented from rotating about its own axis by a rotation preventing member. The crankshaft is journalled by at least two sliding bearings which are arranged respectively on the both sides of the electric motor, and the mast remotely distanced bearing from the orbiting scroll has a self-aligning function which enables it to change its attitude in accordance with any inclination of the crankshaft. Further, a balance and a counter weight are provided on the crankshaft to counterbalance the centrifugal force produced by the orbiting scroll and the inertial force produced by the rotation preventing member.

  • Patent number: 4950135
Abstract: A scroll-type fluid machine comprises a stationary scroll member and an orbiting scroll member, each having an end plate and a spiral wrap projecting radially from the end plate, the stationary and orbiting scroll members being assembled with their wraps meshing with each other to define a plurality of compression chambers. A plurality of expanding and contracting actuators are secured on a frame and contact with the orbiting scroll member. The actuators are driven by respective A.C. voltages supplied from a driving circuit. The contact points between the actuators and the orbiting scroll member are progressively moved by expanding and contracting motions of the actuators energized by supplied voltages, the A.C. voltages for energizing the actuators being different in phase from each other so that the orbiting scroll member orbits without rotating on its own axis.

  • Patent number: 4801248
Abstract: The variable capacity swash plate compressor of the present invention includes a rotary swash plate having an eccentric mass located opposite to the driving point of the swash plate with respect to the axis of the same. The mass distribution in the rotary swash plate is established such that, within a range in which the piston stroke is less than a predetermined value, a moment about a pivot point produced by the rotation of the swash plate becomes larger than a moment produced by the reciprocating motion of pistons, piston rods and the like and acting upon the swash plate, while, within a range in which the stroke is larger than the predetermined value, the former moment becomes smaller than the latter moment. Accordingly, it is possible to provide a compressor of the type in which its capacity control characteristics are improved over a wide shaft speed range.

  • Patent number: 4579512
Abstract: A scroll-type fluid machine having a stationary scroll member and an orbiting scroll member each of which includes a disc-like end plate and a spiral wrap extending axially from one side of the end plate, with the wraps of the scroll members meshing with each other to define therebetween closed compression chambers. The orbiting scroll member is disposed between the end plate of the stationary scroll member and a frame of the machine with a back clearance between the other side of the end plate of the orbiting scroll member side thereof and the opposing surface of the frame. The orbiting scroll member is driven to make an orbiting movement with respect to the stationary scroll member so that the compression chambers are progressively moved towards the center of the scroll members while decreasing their volumes, to thereby suck a fluid through a suction port in the stationary scroll member and compress the same to discharge the compressed fluid through a discharge port formed in the stationary scroll member.

  • Patent number: 4473343
Abstract: In a scroll-type compressor, the sum of pressure receiving areas of the upper end surfaces of crank portion of a crankshaft and the upper end surface of a balance weight is made substantially equal to the sum of the pressure receiving areas of the lower end surface of the shaft portion of the crankshaft and the lower end surface of the balance weight, the surfaces being subjected to internal pressures of the compressor. Consequently, only the downward force produced by the weights of the crankshaft and the rotor of a driving motor is applied to the crankshaft as an axial load which is born by a thrust bearing. Since the thrust bearing is required only to bear a small thrust load, it is free from the problems such as rapid wear and seizure.
