  • Patent number: 4441870
Abstract: A scroll member including a wrap having its thickness boundaries defined by an outer side wall surface and an inner side wall surface, wherein the inner side wall surface of the wrap includes a starting end portion formed to coincide with an arc of a circle having a predetermined radius.

  • Patent number: 4417863
Abstract: A scroll member assembly of a scroll-type fluid machine, having a stationary scroll member and an orbiting scroll member each including an end plate and a wrap protruding upright from the end plate. The scrolling members are assembled together with the wraps fitting each other, in such a manner that the orbiting scroll member makes an oribitary motion relatively to the stationary scrolling member but does not rotate around its own axis. The wrap of the stationary scroll member has a scrolling angle which is greater than that of the wrap of orbiting scroll member by an angle not greater than 180.degree..

  • Patent number: 4396364
Abstract: A scroll fluid apparatus in which a bearing of a plurality of bearings journaling a crankshaft which is closest to an orbiting scroll is located in a plane extending through the point of application of force transmitted between the orbiting scroll member and the crankshaft and disposed at a right angle to the center axis of the crankshaft, to minimize the moment of load applied to the bearings.

  • Patent number: 4384831
Abstract: A scroll-type fluid apparatus including an orbiting scroll member, a stationary scroll member, and a plurality of pockets formed in at least one of the orbiting scroll member and the stationary scroll member to cooperate with the other scroll member for confining liquid therein. When an axially urging force is ecerted on the orbiting scroll member, a liquid pressure commensurate with the axially urging force is produced in the pockets, so that such liquid pressure cancels out a biased axially urging force (moment) exerted on the orbiting scroll member.

  • Patent number: 4365941
Abstract: A scroll compressor for compressing a gas to a high pressure or for use in a refrigeration system such as a refrigerator, freezer, air conditioner or the like, is provided. In the compressor, a compressor unit and its driving motor is enclosed gas-tightly in a casing, and the compressor unit is provided with a backpressure chamber into which is introduced a partially compressed gas so as to press an orbiting scroll member against a stationary scroll member. The compressed gas discharged from the compressor unit is circulated through component parts such as the motor enclosed in the casing before it flows into a next stage outside of the compressor. With the above arrangement, the separation of the orbiting scroll member from the stationary scroll member due to the gas pressure is prevented to thereby attaining a secure axial seal between them, and also the motor is satisfactorily cooled.

  • Patent number: 4350479
Abstract: A scroll-type fluid machine is provided with a plurality of liquid-confining pockets formed in the sliding surface of the end member of either one of orbiting and stationary scrolls. In operation, a high liquid pressure is generated in the pocket or pockets positioned in the region where a localized high axial urging force is exerted during operation, so that the localized high axial urging force acting on the two scrolls is partially or fully negated.

  • Patent number: 4216661
Abstract: In a gas pressure increasing system for increasing the pressure of a refrigerant gas or air having a scroll compressor, a condenser, a pressure reducing means and an evaporator or a scroll compressor and a gas cooler, an exhaust gas released from the scroll compressor after having its pressure increased by the scroll compressor itself is cooled and expanded to reduce its pressure to an intermediate pressure level to produce a gas of an intermediate pressure having a cooling capability. The gas of the intermediate pressure is used to provide a force for axially sealing an orbiting scroll member of the scroll compressor as well as to cool the scroll compressor and a motor.
