  • Patent number: 6537315
Abstract: An artificial heart has a driving section, a nozzle section, a pump section for insertion into a ventricle of a human heart, and a sealing section forming a seal for a driving shaft extending from the driving section for driving the pump section. A sealing liquid chamber filled with a sealing liquid is formed around the driving shaft between the sealing mechanism and the driving section. The sealing liquid in the sealing liquid chamber maintains the sealing mechanism in a liquid-tight state and lubricates the sealing mechanism, whereby blood is prevented from entering the driving section. Even if blood happens to enter the driving section, the blood is mixed with the sealing liquid and does not coagulate. Thus, the operation of the artificial heart is not suppressed.

  • Patent number: 6527371
Abstract: The present invention provides an ink jet recording head in which the degree of freedom in the design of the arranged position of an electric signal input-output terminal is enhanced, its manufacturing method and an ink jet recording device, the invention is characterized as follows. The ink jet recording head is formed by laminating a heater element substrate in which a heater element and others are arranged and a passage substrate in which nozzles and others are formed. When the nozzles and others are formed by etching in the passage substrate, a cut-out portion for exposing an electric signal input-output terminal of the heater element substrate is also formed. Therefore, the degree of freedom in the design of the shape and the position of the cut-out portion in the head chip is enhanced.

  • Patent number: 6494413
Abstract: A holding recess (14) for holding the self-supporting-type cable (1) is formed between elastic holding portions (12, 13). Retaining projections (12a, 13a) are formed respectively on those side surfaces of the elastic holding portions (12, 13), exposed to the holding recess (14), in stepped relation to each other. Even when the self-supporting-type cable (1) is held in any posture, with its cable body portion (2) or its wire support portion (3) first introduced into the holding recess (14), the cable body portion (2) is engaged with the two retaining projections (12a, 13a) in a press-contacted manner to be prevented from withdrawal, or the cable body portion is engaged with the retaining projection (13a) and the bottom of the holding recess (14) in a press-contacted manner, and therefore is held in a stable manner.

  • Publication number: 20020145647
Abstract: An ink jet recording head and a process for producing the same, and an ink jet recording apparatus are provided that improve the printing performance and also improve the production efficiency. A conjugated body 73 formed by conjugating silicon wafers 50 and 58 is cut, whereby nozzles 22 are opened, and cutting into head chip units is carried out. At this time, deep grooves 84 are formed on the surface of the silicon wafer 58 by anisotropic etching, and they are penetrated by etching on the opposite side. Grooves 90 are formed on the silicon wafer 50 by using the thus penetrated deep grooves 84 as a mask.

  • Patent number: 6392971
Abstract: Test pattern data is recorded on a track of the optical disc, and the other pattern data is recorded on the neighboring track. A focus bias value providing the minimum jitter amount when the test pattern data is reproduced with varying the focus bias, is obtained. Just focusing condition is attained by the focus servo using the focus bias. When the test pattern data is reproduced, the data of these neighboring track is also reproduced simultaneously because the pattern data of the type different from the test pattern data is also recorded on the neighboring track. Particularly, under the defocusing condition, crosstalk amount becomes larger because the beam shape is distorted. With reference to jitter amount, such a mistake that the defocusing condition is erroneously determined as the just focusing condition can be eliminated. That is, the focus servo signal providing the accurate just focusing condition can be obtained.

  • Patent number: 6380488
Abstract: A cable protector that includes a main portion for holding a first cable having a relatively large diameter size and an auxiliary portion formed adjacently to the main portion for holding a plurality of second cables each having a relatively small diameter size side by side in the vertical direction. The auxiliary portion is composed of a plurality of hold stays each having an L-shaped section and formed at proper intervals on the outer surface of the side wall forming the main portion in such a manner that the hold stays extend along the longitudinal direction of the protector main body. In the auxiliary portion, on the outer surface of the side wall, a plurality of removal preventive projections are arranged at a cross-stitch stage pitch between the plurality of hold stays. One second cable can be held in a three-point-support manner or a in a bolt manner, which can prevent the only one second cable from trashing in the protector main body due to vibrations.

  • Patent number: 6378994
Abstract: The present invention provides a liquid jet printing head, a method of manufacturing the same, and a liquid jet printing apparatus, which allow stable, high speed, and continuous printing. A liquid jet printing head provides an inflow of liquid from an inlet to a common chamber, then along with the surface of heating elements of a heating element substrate and with a wall of a housing to separate channels. Liquid drops will be ejected by heating the heating elements. Since liquid may flow linearly from the inlet to the separate channels in accordance with the present invention, smooth flow promotes evacuation of bubbles through a nozzle, while cooling the heating element substrate with liquid flowing along with the substrate. The present invention provides thereby stable printing with high speed, continuous ejection (printing) of liquid drops.

  • Publication number: 20020039399
Abstract: A method for controlling water quality in a nuclear reactor comprises a first and second steps. The first step is to make an amount of iron, which is carried into the nuclear reactor and corrosively eluted from structural material within the nuclear reactor into reactor water, at least twice as much as any one of an amount of nickel, which is carried into the nuclear reactor, and an amount of nickel, which is generated in the nuclear reactor. The second step is to limit an upper limit of concentration value of iron in system water supplied into the nuclear reactor to up to 0.10 ppb.

  • Publication number: 20020027585
Abstract: The present invention provides an inkjet recording head cartridge and an inkjet recording apparatus that have a simple structure and high reliability. Since individual flow passages in which ink emission orifices are formed are communicated directly with a rectangular ink supply chamber, it is prevented that a bubble of such a size as to cause printing defects rises through an ink supply chamber and blocks the individual flow passages. Also, since ink heated within the ink supply chamber is moved upward to the ink tank chamber by convection and grows an air lump sealed beforehand, it is prevented that a bubble will grow in the ink supply chamber. Furthermore, by allocating a large cross-sectional area to the ink supply chamber, it is prevented that meniscus oscillation of the ink emission orifices is amplified by pressure oscillation caused by ink emission and causes a printing defect. Therefore, reliable printing can be performed with a simple construction.
