  • Publication number: 20130039485
Abstract: An information processing system includes a medium storing contents for reproduction, and a reproducing device to reproduce the contents. The reproducing device obtains a device certificate and transmits the device certificate to the medium. The device certificate includes the reproducing device's type information, and the medium encodes a media ID for identifying the medium according to an encoding algorithm selected according to the reproducing device's type information. The encoded media ID is transmitted to the reproducing device, which decodes the encoded media ID according to a decoding algorithm corresponding to the device type of the reproducing device, and decrypts and reproduces data to which the obtained media ID is applied.

  • Patent number: 8374064
Abstract: A method for copy protection includes providing audiovisual or audio data stored in sectors of a record carrier having a file system, and providing additional data to be stored in further sectors. The method includes generating first and second files referencing respective first and second parts of the sectors and respective further first and second parts of the further sectors, so when the first and second files are completely rendered by a playback device, respective first and second parts of the data and respective further first and second parts of the additional data are reproduced. The method also includes determining program instructions, which when executed by the playback device, control switching between reading the first file and the second file, and when the record carrier is an original, switching is controlled so only the sectors and none of the further sectors are read such that no additional data is reproduced.

  • Patent number: 8285117
Abstract: An information processing apparatus includes a data processing unit that verifies data recorded on a disk and reproduces content recorded on the disk if a verification condition is satisfied. The data processing unit verifies the validity of an ID inserter that has recorded, on the disk, an ID corresponding to the disk. The data processing unit acquires an ID inserter certificate containing an apparatus ID of the ID inserter that has recorded the ID corresponding to the disk on the disk and an ID inserter blacklist having apparatus IDs of invoked ID inserters registered therein, determines whether the apparatus ID contained in the ID inserter certificate is registered in the ID inserter blacklist so as to verify the validity of the ID inserter that has recorded the ID corresponding to the disk, and stops reproduction of the content if it is determined that the ID inserter is not valid.

  • Patent number: 8281156
Abstract: A data placement configuration which ensures seamless playback of contents having segment portions including multiple different variations of encrypted data is provided. With regard to contents having segment portions configured of multiple different variations of encrypted data to which individual segment keys have been applied, and non-segment portions serving as encrypted data to which a unit key has been applied, the placement of segment data and non-segment portion configuration data is determined such that the maximum jump distance executed at the time of playback processing is equal to or less than a maximum jump distance set beforehand. Data placement has been determined based on seek time, ECC block processing time, sequence key usage time which is key switchover time, and so forth.

  • Patent number: 8261096
Abstract: An information processing apparatus, an information recording medium, an information processing method, and a computer program are provided. In an information recording medium storing many pieces of content, a configuration that allows use management on segmented content basis is provided. A plurality of content management units corresponding to title, index and other information are set by partitioning stored content in an information recording medium. Different unit keys that are encryption keys are allocated to different content management units. At least the content real data included in each content management unit is encrypted by use of the unit key and the encrypted data is stored. In content reproduction, units are identified and decryption is executed by use of a unit key corresponding to each unit for reproduction. In an information recording medium storing many pieces of content for example, each of segmented pieces of content may be managed.

  • Patent number: 8260122
Abstract: Executes a re-encoding after decoding data of a connection section A of a first MPEG picture data. This re-encoding is executed based on a control such that a transition of a VBV buffer occupation value starts from a VBV buffer occupation value at a position a and ends with a VBV buffer occupation value at a position d. Up to the position a of the first MPEG picture data, the first MPEG picture data is reproduced. Next, re-encoded MPEG picture data of the connection section A is reproduced. Thereafter, the data is connected to the position d of a second MPEG picture data, and the second MPEG picture data of the position d and after is reproduced.

  • Patent number: 8219818
Abstract: An information processing apparatus includes: a reproducing unit that reads, from a disc, a content and a content code file storing a content code that includes at least any one of a program or conversion data applied to a content reproducing process, to execute the content reproducing process; and a signature verification unit that verifies a digital signature set for the content code file. The signature verification unit verifies the signature using different pieces of set signature target data between a signature verification process executed in reproducing the content recorded in a ROM disc and a signature verification process executed in reproducing the content recorded in a non-ROM disc other than the ROM disc. The reproducing unit, when signature verification is successfully executed by the signature verification unit, applies the content code stored in the content code file, for which signature verification is successful, to reproduce the content.
