    Abstract: The present disclosure relates generally to security systems and, more particularly, to a power and/or alarming security system for electrical appliances. In an example embodiment, an apparatus comprises a socket and a circuit. The socket can be configured for detachable electrical connection with an electrical appliance. The circuit can be configured to (1) provide power to a connected electrical appliance through the socket, and (2) calibrate an alarm limit for a security function for the socket based on a plurality of electrical characteristics of the connected electrical appliance that are measured via the socket, wherein the electrical characteristics comprise an admittance characteristic and a current draw characteristic of the connected electrical appliance. Furthermore, the circuit can calibrate the alarm limit for the socket according to a plurality of calibration phases.

The local oscillator signal repeatedly and sequentially hops through a second sequence of frequencies having fewer members than the first sequence of frequencies and the repetition frequency with which the local oscillator signal hops through the second sequence of frequencies is substantially equal to the repetition frequency with which the carrier hops through the first sequence of frequencies. Preferably, the receiver includes an ADC that is sampled at a rate greater than twice the bandwidth of the antenna signal.

    Abstract: An OFDM transmitter includes a lookup table for storing at least two groups of data digits associated with different respective characteristic frequencies (e.g. 3960 MHz, 5016 MHz). An addressing circuit addresses the lookup table and repeatedly and sequentially selects the groups of data digits. The data digits of the selected group are output sequentially. The output sequence of data digits is converted to analog form, and each group of data digits, when output and converted to analog form, provides a carrier signal at the characteristic frequency associated with that group. The carrier signal is modulated in accordance with an information signal to provide a transmission signal.
