  • Patent number: 5144045
Abstract: Phospocholine derivatives having the formula: ##STR1## in which W, Z, Q and R are described in the specification are disclosed as useful for inhibiting the enzyme phospholipase A.sub.2. Methods of making and using the compounds are also disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 13, 1990
Date of Patent: September 1, 1992
    Assignee: American Cyanamid Company

  • Patent number: 5082739
Abstract: A metallized spinel material and a method for producing a metallized spinel material are provided. The spinel is a high-transmissive material and, particularly, has high transmission in the ultraviolet and, preferably, the visible infrared wavelength regions as well. The high-transmissivity spinel material is metallized by applying the slurry containing a metal, such as tungsten, molybdenum and/or manganese to the substrate, and firing at en elevated temperature such as 1200.degree. to 1800.degree. C., preferably 1500.degree. to 1800.degree. C. for about 1/2 hour in a non-oxidizing atmosphere.

Date of Patent: January 21, 1992
    Assignee: Coors Porcelain Company
Inventors: Donald W. Roy, James L. Hastert, Kenneth E. Green, Lawrence E. Courbrough, Aurielo Trujillo
  • Patent number: 4934484
Abstract: A portable assembly comprising a nylon flame retardant support rope, an adjustable size waist band and crotch harness and a lever controlled brake rope friction device. The user securely fastens the rope at the point of departure, threads the rope through the friction device and fastens the device to the harness. The lever on the friction device regulates the rate of descent from a full stop to the limiting rate prescribed by the friction ring assembly. Alternately, the user may hand hold the friction device for lowering a load fastened to the harness.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 7, 1989

  • Patent number: 4682568
Abstract: A superheater tube shield of refractory material comprises a pair of elongated half shields of identical interchangeable interlocking size and shape, each half shield having a semi-circular sidewall portion extending between and to diametrically opposite tongue and groove side wall portions which are assembled together about the tubes by axially inserting elongaged tongues into the elongated grooves. Refractory cement may be applied to attach the half sheilds to the tubes.

Date of Patent: July 28, 1987
    Assignee: Norton Company
Inventors: Kenneth E. Green, Donald K. Johnson, Roger W. Woodruff
  • Patent number: 4450693
Abstract: A thermal coupler assembly mounted to the coldfinger of a cryogenic cooler which provides improved thermal transfer between the coldfinger and the detector assembly mounted on the dewar endwell. The thermal coupler design comprises a stud and spring-loaded cap mounted on the coldfinger assembly. Thermal transfer is made primarily through the air space between the cap and coldwell walls along the radial surfaces. The cap is spring loaded to provide thermal contact between the cap and endwell end surfaces.
