  • Publication number: 20190222495
Abstract: A Device Abstraction Proxy (DAP) interface receives a request for operational data relating to broadband access line services provided to a plurality of broadband access terminals in a network by two or more providers. The DAP interface receives, in response to the request, the operational data, including operational data for a plurality of DSL lines coupled to the plurality of broadband access terminals. The DAP then identifies at least two of the plurality of broadband access lines as belonging to a common neighborhood of broadband access lines, each of the at least two of the plurality of DSL lines respectively associated with at least two of the plurality of broadband access terminals being provided the broadband access services by different providers.

  • Publication number: 20180323825
Abstract: Various embodiments describe communication systems for implementing high-speed transmission systems using waveguide-mode transmission over wires. In certain examples, a communication system uses wire pairs as “waveguides” that transmit data at high frequencies and speeds. The data is transmitted through wave propagation that takes various forms, such as surface waves and Total Internal Reflection (TIR) waves.

  • Publication number: 20180176387
Abstract: The transmit power level of a transceiver coupled to a digital subscriber line (DSL) line is reduced from a first transmit power level sufficient for the transceiver to continuously transmit data on the DSL line at a first bit rate to a second transmit power level below the first transmit power level sufficient for the transceiver to continuously transmit data on the DSL line at a second bit rate that is lower than the first bit rate. The reduction in transmit power is limited so that the change does not induce time-varying crosstalk sufficient to destabilize a nearby DSL line. While the transmit power level of the transceiver is reduced to the second transmit power level, the transceiver is suspended from transmitting data on the DSL line for repeated periods of time. Suspending the data transmission is controlled to avoid further time-varying crosstalk sufficient to destabilize the nearby DSL line.

  • Patent number: 9860111
Abstract: An alternate communications device is coupled to a broadband CPE in broadband customer premises equipment (CPE). The broadband CPE is coupled to a broadband communication network management device via a primary communication path. The alternate communications device is further coupled to the broadband communication network management device via an alternate communication path. The alternate communications device is to provide diagnostic and configuration information about a broadband connection to the broadband communication network management device via the alternate communication path when the broadband CPE is unable to provide such via the broadband connection. The broadband communication network management device is to perform analysis on this information.

  • Publication number: 20170187453
Abstract: The invention is a tool that accurately predicts the performance of each different priority or service level on a PON with multiple different service types and multiple users. Delays and bit rates are computed accounting for all packet, protocol, propagation, and scheduling overhead. The performance and delays of all services are further verified by running a real-time simulation that identically mimics the operation of an actual PON, resulting in very close prediction of the performances of different services before the services are actually used or tested for use by the subscribers. The invention allows the service provider to sell the maximum number of services possible, while still ensuring that they can all function acceptably. The tool may be used to model and predict behavior of various PON.
