  • Patent number: 6916988
Abstract: An electric connector assembly that includes a connector body having an inlet end portion and an outlet end portion that is provided with a frustro-conical snap fit retaining ring having a face portion about which laterally extending arms are bent to define a frustro-conical ring circumscribing the face portion. The retainer ring is integrally formed of a spring steel type material an equivalent thereof. Certain of the arms have locking tangs formed or blanked out of the surface thereof, that are cantileverly bent or offset relative to the surface of its corresponding arm. The free end of the arms are arranged to function as an electrical grounding tang in the operative position of the connector assembly.

  • Patent number: 6872886
Abstract: By providing at least two integrated components, an outer housing and an inner sleeve member, with the inner sleeve member being securely mounted to the outer housing in a manner which prevents its separation from the housing, an efficient, easily manufactured and assembled cable connector is realized. In the preferred embodiment, the inner sleeve member is press fitted into the housing in order to provide the desired secure, integrated affixation of these components. Furthermore, the inner sleeve member is constructed in a generally hollow cylindrical shape with at least two arm members integrally formed therewith, each of which angularly slopes inwardly from the cylindrical wall of the sleeve member, and includes a distal end portion which is angularly disposed relative to the arm member in at least one direction and preferably in two directions.

  • Patent number: 6860758
Abstract: An electrical connector having an inlet end and an outlet end wherein the leading or outlet end is provided with a pair of spaced apart shoulders defining therebetween an annular recess and a snap fit retainer ring fitted onto the outlet end, the retainer ring having at least two series of spring tangs blanked out of the plane thereof, and which tangs are formed to effect a positive grounding connection with an associated electric box in the event any slight deviations are encountered within the parameters of the adopted standards, and whereby the annular recess functions to provide a relief for the spring tangs to facilitate and minimize the required insertion force and to insure a positive ground connection between the connector and the electrical box in the assembled position.

  • Patent number: 6861585
Abstract: By incorporating visually distinctive and readily identifiable indicia on at least a portion of a cable and/or conduit connector and/or its associated locking member and/or a switch box, a unique conduit, cable connecting member, and/or switch box is achieved which immediately informs any user of the precise electrical wires and circuit connections associated with the cable and/or conduit affixed thereto. By incorporating the visually distinctive and readily identifiable indicia on the portion of the connector mounted in the junction box and/or cable box and, if desired, on the cable box itself, any individual is able to immediately recognize and understand the precise electrical connections for the wires associated with the metal clad cables or electrical tubes or conduits affixed to the connector and cable box, since the portion of the connector displaying the indicia remains visible after final installation.

  • Patent number: 6765143
Abstract: By providing a single, elongated, hollow, cylindrically shaped housing member and locking rings or washers mounted at the ends of the housing member, a simple, easily used, inexpensive conduit coupling and connector assembly is achieved. In one embodiment, the connector assembly is constructed for receiving the free ends of two separate and independent conduits and securely affixing the two conduits in co-axial, aligned, cooperating relationship with each other, while in an alternate embodiment, a single conduit or tubing member is securely mounted to the connector assembly for positioning the conduit or tubing member in a precisely desired location. In addition, the conduit coupling and connector assembly of the present invention may be implemented using various alternate embodiments for either the locking rings or washers or for the housing member.

  • Patent number: 6737584
Abstract: By providing two integrated components, an outer housing and an inner sleeve member having cable engaging arms, with the inner sleeve member being securely mounted to the outer housing in a manner which prevents its separation from the housing, an efficient, easily manufactured and assembled cable connector is realized. In one preferred embodiment, the inner sleeve member incorporates a plurality of locking members which extend through portals formed in the housing to enable the fully assembled cable connector to be quickly and easily lockingly engaged and securely mounted in a receiving hole of a junction or outlet box. If desired, the sleeve member may also incorporate radially extending curved grounding/conductivity tabs mounted to the sleeve member and constructed for extending through additional portals formed in the housing.
