  • Publication number: 20180321811
Abstract: A mapping API provides a digital map via a user interface of a computing device. When invoked by a software application, the mapping API is configured to receive an identifier of a user operating the software application, provide a first interactive digital map including a representation of a certain geographic area for display by the software application, where the first interactive digital map is personalizable via the software application, receive personalization content from the user via the software application, and cause a second digital map including a representation of the geographic area, when provided to the same user, to be modified in view of the personalization content, where the first digital map and the second digital map are created independently.

  • Publication number: 20180250052
Abstract: An orthopedic fastener has a head and a shank. The shank has a leading end portion adjacent a distal tip and a trailing end portion adjacent a head. An intermediate portion is positioned between the leading and trailing end portions. At the intermediate portion, the shank increases in diameter. The leading end portion has a first thread which includes one or more self-tapping cutting grooves extending adjacent the distal tip and through a plurality of the first threads. The intermediate portion has second threads extending toward the head from the leading end portion. The second threads of the intermediate portion are larger in outer diameter than the first threads in the leading end portion. The intermediate portion has one or more cutting grooves traversing at each of a leading transition at the leading end portion and at a trailing transition.

  • Publication number: 20180232398
Abstract: An application programming interface (API) for automatically providing digital maps to third-party software applications is provided. The API is configured to (i) receive a string of alphanumeric characters from a third-party software application that executes independently of a map service, (ii) automatically determine whether the string is consistent with one or more indications of geographic locations, (iii) when the string is consistent with an indication of a geographic location, determine whether a digital map of a geographic area including the indicated geographic location should be generated, and (iv) in response to determining that the digital map should be generated, receive the digital from the map service and provide the digital map to the third-party software application for display via a user interface.

  • Patent number: 10041967
Abstract: A method of determining a velocity of air flowing in an air flow direction through an opening. The method includes locating first and second transducer assemblies in the opening, to position the first and second transducer assemblies spaced apart by a predetermined distance along a substantially straight line of sight defining a non-zero angle in a horizontal plane between the line of sight and the air flow direction. A controller is operatively connected with the first and second transducer assemblies respectively, via a four-wire interface in which two of the wires are for power transmission and two of the wires are for transmitting signals. The transducer assemblies are time-synchronized. First and second electronic signal pulses are transmitted between the first and second transducer assemblies. Based on the transit times, the non-zero angle, and the predetermined distance, the velocity of the air flowing in the air flow direction is determined.

  • Publication number: 20180206347
Abstract: A polymer film is applied onto a surface of a laminated printed circuit board subassembly having vias. Holes are created in the polymer film to access the vias while the polymer film remains covering adjacent areas. The polymer film with holes allows placement of hole-fill paste in the vias while preventing unwanted hole-fill paste placement or migration to adjacent areas. After filling the vias with hole-fill paste, the hole-fill paste is preferably at least partially hardened or cured, and the polymer film is preferably removed, facilitating further assembly of a printed circuit board without unwanted hole-fill paste in other areas which could be difficult to remove, The invention includes improved processes for fabricating printed circuit boards, and is particularly useful for irregular circuit boards and rigid flex circuit boards. The invention also includes covered laminated printed circuit board subassemblies, covered with a removable polymer film.

  • Publication number: 20180153561
Abstract: A detachable vertical cutter for insertion into a cylinder or tube is formed as a single unitary structure. The single blade has a pair of tool attachment end portions and a cutting blade extending in a loop between the attachment ends. The cutting blade is inclined vertically relative to a longitudinal axis of a cylinder or tube into which the attachment ends can slide into. The cutting blade has a cutting edge, a portion of which when extended free of the cylinder or tube will extend a distance greater than the tube outside diameter. The cutting edge when pushed inwardly and pulled outwardly between adjacent vertebrae scrapes and cuts disc material. When retracted the cutting blade deflects into the cylinder or tube for insertion or extraction into or from the disc space.
