  • Publication number: 20170224360
Abstract: A detachable vertical cutter for insertion into a cylinder or tube is formed as a single unitary structure. The single blade has a pair of tool attachment end portions and a cutting blade extending in a loop between the attachment ends. The cutting blade is inclined vertically relative to a longitudinal axis of a cylinder or tube into which the attachment ends can slide into. The cutting blade has a cutting edge, a portion of which when extended free of the cylinder or tube will extend a distance greater than the tube outside diameter. The cutting edge when pushed inwardly and pulled outwardly between adjacent vertebrae scrapes and cuts disc material. When retracted the cutting blade deflects into the cylinder or tube for insertion or extraction into or from the disc space.

  • Publication number: 20170189831
Abstract: Provided is a supercritical fluid chromatography method, system, and components comprising such a system wherein a non-polar solvent may replace a portion or all of a polar solvent for the purpose of separating or extracting desired sample molecules from a combined sample/solvent stream. The method and system are designed to eliminate or reduce the amount of polar solvent necessary for chromatographic separation and/or extraction of desired samples to less than or equal to twenty percent polar solvent within the total volume concentration of the total solvents used, and the technique may include one or more of a supercritical fluid chiller, a supercritical fluid pressure-equalizing vessel, and a supercritical fluid cyclonic separator. The supercritical fluid chiller and the use of the chiller allow efficient and consistent pumping of liquid-phase gases employing off-the-shelf HPLC pumps in the supercritical chromatography system using liquid-phase gas mobile phase.

  • Publication number: 20170086886
Abstract: A modular head bone screw assembly has a bone screw, a tulip and a saddle. The saddle is positioned in a recess inside of the tulip. The saddle has a proximal end for engaging a rod and a distal end for receiving a hemispherical or at least partial hemispherical head of the bone screw. The saddle is sized to move axially inside the tulip. The saddle has a plurality of fingers separated by slots extending from near the proximal end through the distal end in an initial un-loaded position and upon insertion of the tulip over the head of the bone screw, the saddle moves proximally over the head simultaneously causing the fingers to move past a maximum diameter of the hemispherical head and upon tightening the rod by a set screw, the fingers locking the bone screw into the tulip.

  • Patent number: 9552750
Abstract: An overhead sign display system is provided for facilitating the hanging of overhead retail signs, banners and the like upon a line stretched across opposing horizontal supports suspended from the ceiling or affixed to an upright support from the floor or other fixture in a safe, efficient and sturdy manner and to provide an efficient way of maintaining tension on the line. The system includes a free floating reel constructed of a rod around which is coiled a line held in place by a spacer, washers and nuts and which is then inserted into a first end of a horizontal support housing such that the line can be stretched taut across and fastened to the opposing support or fixture then tightened by turning the reel in an opposite direction and securing the reel in place inside the housing. Opposing bolts are threaded through the horizontal support or an optional locking sleeve to engage the reel assembly so as to affix the reel assembly in place and maintain tautness of the line.

  • Publication number: 20160370214
Abstract: A method of determining a velocity of air flowing in an air flow direction through an opening. The method includes locating first and second transducer assemblies in the opening, to position the first and second transducer assemblies spaced apart by a predetermined distance along a substantially straight line of sight defining a non-zero angle in a horizontal plane between the line of sight and the air flow direction. A controller is operatively connected with the first and second transducer assemblies respectively, via a four-wire interface in which two of the wires are for power transmission and two of the wires are for transmitting signals. The transducer assemblies are time-synchronized. First and second electronic signal pulses are transmitted between the first and second transducer assemblies. Based on the transit times, the non-zero angle, and the predetermined distance, the velocity of the air flowing in the air flow direction is determined.

  • Patent number: 9489027
Abstract: A method for establishing a power profile for a computing device and then using that profile for future power calculations and cost savings estimates after the implementation of a selected power scheme in the computing device is disclosed. This is accomplished by establishing a power profile on a model computing device and then matching that profile to other machines that are similar in configuration. Each tested machine has a power profile that is recorded and saved in cloud based memory storage. A striated matching methodology is utilized to provide the best profile match for each target machine in the enterprise which allows for accurate power calculations for each machine based upon similar original target machine profiles. Once power calculations are done for target machines based on the established profiles, power schemes can then be deployed across an enterprise computing landscape and power calculations taken again to determine potential power savings.

  • Patent number: 9409190
Abstract: Herein is disclosed an in-situ system for automatically washing the walls of a wet well. The system includes a high pressure water pump coupled to a plurality of elongated high pressure water spray heads mounted along the walls of the wet well. The high pressure water spray heads are each coupled to the water pump via a solenoid valve which is in turn coupled to a control panel. The control panel is configured to operate the spray heads one at a time so that the wet well is washed by operating only one spray head at a time. The system uses standard municipal water line as a water source and uses inexpensive motors, pumps and fittings.
