  • Publication number: 20180359506
Abstract: Systems, methods, and processor-readable media are provided for content distribution for a multi-channel content distribution system. A content item may be received by a video handling system. The content item may include video data, the content item corresponding to media for delivery to a television receivers via channel components. A metric of the content item may be detected as a function of time. Viewership data received from data sources may be processed, the viewership data indicative of one or more characteristics of viewers. The viewership data may be mapped to the content item. The content item may be qualified based on the viewership data to yield a qualification result for the content item. An encoding parameter to encode the content item may be determined based on the metric and the qualification result. Encoding of the content item may be specified in accordance with the encoding parameter.

  • Patent number: 10136216
Abstract: Methods and systems for generating an audio mix indicative of action sound captured at an event on a surface (e.g., a sporting event on a field) using a microphone array, where the array includes subsurface microphones (e.g., a large number of subsurface microphones) positioned under the surface, and optionally also other microphones. In typical embodiments, at least one point of interest (“PI”) on the surface is selected in an automated manner, PI data indicative of a currently selected PI on the surface is generated (e.g., a sequence of PIs on the surface is selected, the PI data is indicative of the sequence of PIs, and a most recently selected PI in the sequence is the currently selected PI), and the audio mix is generated in response to the PI data. Aspects include methods performed by any embodiment of the system, and a system or device configured (e.g., programmed) to perform any embodiment of the method.

  • Publication number: 20180263504
Abstract: The invention provides a sensor for measuring both impedance and ECG waveforms that is configured to be worn around a patient's neck. The sensor features 1) an ECG system that includes an analog ECG circuit, in electrical contact with at least two ECG electrodes, that generates an analog ECG waveform; and 2) an impedance system that includes an analog impedance circuit, in electrical contact with at least two (and typically four) impedance electrodes, that generates an analog impedance waveform. Also included in the neck-worn system are a digital processing system featuring a microprocessor, and an analog-to-digital converter. During a measurement, the digital processing system receives and processes the analog ECG and impedance waveforms to measure physiological information from the patient. Finally, a cable that drapes around the patient's neck connects the ECG system, impedance system, and digital processing system.

  • Publication number: 20180214079
Abstract: The invention provides a neck-worn sensor that is a single, body-worn system that measures the following parameters from an ambulatory patient: heart rate, pulse rate, pulse oximetry, respiratory rate, temperature, thoracic fluid levels, stroke volume, cardiac output, and a parameter sensitive to blood pressure called pulse transit time. From stroke volume, a first algorithm employing a linear model can estimate the patient's pulse pressure. And from pulse pressure and pulse transit time, a second algorithm, also employing a linear algorithm, can estimate systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure. Thus, the sensor can measure all five vital signs along with hemodynamic parameters. It also includes a motion-detecting accelerometer, from which it can determine motion-related parameters such as posture, degree of motion, activity level, respiratory-induced heaving of the chest, and falls.

  • Publication number: 20180202159
Abstract: Frame supported panels with an increased load carrying capacity derived from inducing newly discovered conditions on panels made from weaker, lighter and thinner materials. The fixed/continuous/dropped condition can increase a panel's load capacity many times based on the panel's interaction with frame members. This enables foam panels, for example, to be used in structural applications. It also enables polyurethane foam with any cladding to provide a comprehensive, structural building panel that provides a finished exterior, continuous and cavity insulation, an air, moisture and vapor barrier and increased uplift resistance while eliminating condensation and thermal expansion/contraction.

  • Publication number: 20180197432
Abstract: A wireless client device having a touchscreen may run a class assessment tool. The tool may have an interface that displays a row of student pictures and names and enables a teacher to assess the students on various key aspects. The tool may display a rubric for each key aspect when the key aspect is hovered over or selected. The interface may include a matrix of assessment blocks having a plurality of individually selectable areas that enable a teacher to enter a key aspect score for each key aspect for each student. The interface may include a row of comment areas configured to receive a private message for a student and a row of final scores based on the key aspect scores of the student. • Publication number: 20180133725
Abstract: A fire protection sprinkler including a frame body having an inlet, an outlet, defining an internal passageway extending between the inlet and the outlet along a sprinkler axis. A dome shaped deflector member is centered, axially aligned with the sprinkler axis, and spaced from the outlet. The deflector member has an outer surface and an inner surface that preferably includes: a peripheral region, a central region and an intermediate region. The intermediate region includes a primary deflecting surface, and a secondary deflecting surface that is surrounded by the primary deflecting surface. The deflector member provides for generation of a non-circular spray pattern defined by four zones of fluid density concentrically formed about the sprinkler axis.

  • Patent number: 9967032
Abstract: Optical fiber-based distributed communications components and systems, and related methods to provide localization services for client devices are disclosed. The localization services allow the providing and/or determination of the location of client devices in communication with a component or components of the optical fiber-based distributed communications system. The location of client devices can be provided and/or determined based on knowledge of the location of the component or components in the optical fiber-based distributed communications system in communication with the client device. This information can be used to determine or provide a more precise area of location or area of location for client devices.
