  • Publication number: 20120015986
Abstract: The invention provides a method for preventing discoloration of pyrithione-containing materials, in particular plastic materials or other material such as paints, coatings, adhesives or textiles which are exposed to an outdoor environment. The method is likewise suited for preventing discoloration of other pyrithione-containing materials such as personal care compositions like shampoos. A discoloration inhibitor that includes dehydroacetic acid or a salt thereof is added to the pyrithione-containing material. The discoloration is prevented without the addition of a cyclic organic phosphoric acid ester or an organic phosphite. Use of the discoloration inhibitor does not interfere with the antimicrobial effect of the pyrithione.

  • Patent number: 7640074
Abstract: The illustrative embodiments provide a method, apparatus, and computer usable program product for generating datamatrix barcodes on parts. A digital datamatrix code associated with a machined part on a numerically controlled machine tool is converted into an x-y drilling pattern contained in a numerically controlled program. A drill cycle associated with a numerically controlled program defines a pattern of dots to be drilled in the machined part to form a dot pattern. A dot pattern is drilled as a series of partially drilled holes on a surface of the machined part to form a datamatrix barcode mark.

  • Patent number: 6583181
Abstract: The present inventors have discovered that electrolytes, such as the tetrasodium salt of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), reduce the ocular irritation and increase the disinfecting and sanitizing efficacy of compositions containing quaternary ammonium compounds and/or amines. As a result, concentrated solutions containing quaternary ammonium compounds and/or amines of the present invention have low, if any, ocular irritation. Furthermore, use dilutions of the concentrated solutions of the present invention include ingredients which are approved by the U.S. EPA for use on indirect food contact surfaces, unlike disinfecting and sanitizing compositions containing imidazoline compounds. Additionally, the use dilutions exhibit superior efficacy against gram negative and positive bacteria compared to similar compositions which do not contain the electrolyte and remain effective in hard water. The present invention is a concentrate, such as a sanitizing and disinfecting concentrate, comprising from about 0.

  • Publication number: 20030114342
Abstract: The present invention provides compositions comprising quaternary ammonium compounds and dendritic polymers, which can be applied to hard surfaces. The compositions form transparent films and do not cause any unsightly residue on the surface to which is applied. The compositions provide immediate antimicrobial efficacy upon application as well as residual antimicrobial activity, especially broad-spectrum efficacy over prolonged periods, and may be used at low levels to prevent toxicity problems to the user. The film is water-soluble, easily removed completely with warm water, and does not require special techniques or harsh chemical treatments to effect its complete removal. The present invention also provides a method of disinfecting a substrate, preferably a hard surface, comprising applying a disinfecting composition of the invention to the substrate.
