  • Patent number: 7794136
Abstract: The present invention discloses a vortex-modulation based micromixer for enforced mass exchange. The micromixer of the present invention comprises a mixing chamber with grooves on one wall thereof and a special-shape barrier on another wall. As different fluids are injected into the mixing chamber respectively from two inlets of the micromixer, the grooves and barriers of the micromixer of the present invention create the constructive interferences to form the active-like agitation of the fluid. For every groove, the flux passed by can be increased via its high pressure gradient. Understandably, the mixing efficiency of the fluids can be greatly improved within a very short distance. At last, the outlet of the micromixer is located in the downstream of the mixing chamber and further is able to connect with other elements. The present invention is entirely a passive micromixer and no additional energy is required.

  • Publication number: 20090118580
Abstract: An image-type intubation-aiding device comprises a small-size image sensor and a light source module both placed into an endotracheal tube to help doctors with quick intubation. Light from light emission devices in the light source module passes through a transparent housing and is reflected by a target and then focused. The optical signal is converted into a digital or analog electric signal by the image sensor for displaying on a display device after processing. Doctors can thus be helped to quickly find the position of trachea, keep an appropriate distance from a patient for reducing the possibility of infection, and lower the medical treatment cost. Disposable products are available to avoid the problem of infection. The intubation-aiding device can be used as an electronic surgical image examination instrument for penetration into a body. Moreover, a light source with tunable wavelengths can be used to increase the spot ratio of nidus.

  • Publication number: 20080177141
Abstract: The present invention provides a memory-type two-section endoscopic system, which includes an endoscope that comprises a light-emitting device, an image-capturing device, a storage module, and a transmission module adapted in a shell. A disconnectable cable connects to the shell, and can depart form the shell. When the endoscope examines the esophagus and the stomach, the disconnectable cable can be used to control the endoscope for obtaining image data of the esophagus and the stomach for the image-capturing device. Then the image data is stored in the storage module or transmitted to the transmission module. When the endoscope examines the intestines, the shell will depart from the disconnectable cable and the endoscope will continue examinations of the intestines without wire control. The image data obtained by examining the intestines is stored to the storage module. Thereby, the esophagus, the stomach, and the intestines can be examined at a time, and the efficiency of an endoscope is enhanced.

  • Publication number: 20060263520
Abstract: A method for improving high-viscosity thick film photoresist coating in UV LIGA process is provided. Two photoresists of identical material but different solvent amount are coated on a silicon wafer in different ways to improve film thickness and flatness. The thick film photoresist SU8-2035 and SU8-2100 from MicroChem Corp. have a viscosity of 7000 (cSt) and 45000 (cSt), respectively. First, SU8-2035 is coated on the wafer at a constant speed, then SU8-2100 is coated from an edge to a center of the wafer in a spiral way, while the mass is measured to control the thickness of photoresist. In the soft baking step, the photoresist and wafer are heated on a hot plate. When the temperature rises over the glass transition temperature of the photoresist, the photoresist spreads on the wafer uniformly due to lower viscosity, cohesion and surface tension, while the wafer is rotated to improve the flatness of the photoresist.

  • Publication number: 20060263265
Abstract: A micro-separator for separating red blood cells from blood serum in a blood sample is provided. The main mechanism driving the separation of the blood sample is centrifugal force. With physical mechanisms including surface tension and functional microstructures, the red blood cells and the blood serum in a small volume of blood (about 25 micro-liters) are separated. The entire micro-separation apparatus is disposed on a disk-shaped structure. The micro-separator can integrate with other micro-devices such as micro-mixers, micro-distributors or micro-reactors to form a fully functional apparatus. Combining the rotary driver of a CD player and an optical inspection device with a signal processing system, an inexpensive, fully automatic, parallel-processing inspection system is produced.
