Each aperture has a cutting tool or tooth mounted therein so that each tool holder supports more than one cutting tool or tooth. In some embodiments, the cutting wheel includes first and second sections. The first and second sections including a support member, with a tool holder attached to the support member. Each of the first and second sections having a notch therein, the respective notches cooperating to form a joint between the first and second sections.

Abstract: A stump grinding wheel assembly having a disk-like wheel body. A plurality of bilateral mounting stations integral with the wheel body and arranged into spiral cluster groups. Each spiral cluster having an inner mounting station and at least one middle mounting station and an outer mounting station. The inner mounting stations are thicker than the middle mounting stations, which are thicker than the outer mounting stations. A pair of opposing side-cutters are disposed on each left and right side of the mounting stations. A separate plunge-cutter may be included with each spiral cluster. The bilateral mounting stations produce conically-helical cutting paths using identical side-cutters. The unequal width of the inner and middle and outer mounting stations enables better management of cutting forces in side cutting mode, which produces smoother operation.

Abstract: The present invention is an extractable fastener and a method of use thereof used with a pocket or mounting block of a tool holder used to secure a cutting tooth to a cutting wheel of a stump cutting apparatus. The extractable fastener has a head portion, a shank portion having a threaded portion and an end face. The end face includes an engagement portion that receives a suitable tool whereby force applied to the tool rotates the broken portion of the fastener to remove it from the threaded bore on the pocket or mounting block.

The cutting tooth includes an elongated shank with a head portion located adjacent one end thereof. A cutting bit is attached to the head portion. The shank of the cutting tooth disposed and secured within the bore.
