  • Patent number: 9652343
Abstract: A RAID (redundant array of independent disks) hot spare (RHS) system and method that permits a daisy-chain of interconnected pass-thru disk drive controllers (PTDDCs) each connected to a SATA local disk drive (LDD) storage element (DSE) to support a hot spare disk (HSD) such that a failing disk drive (FDD) in the RAID array can be immediately replaced by a HSD within the PTDDC daisy-chain without operator intervention is disclosed. The PTDDCs within the daisy-chain are configured in RAID fashion to support mirroring of one or more drives in the PTDDC daisy-chain. The PTDDCs monitor functional status of LDDs attached to each PTDDC. FDD failure triggers activation of a HSD in the PTDDC daisy-chain and automatic mirror copying along the PTDDC daisy-chain of RAID data from a master disk drive (MDD) mirrored to the LDD. FDD-PTDDC and HSD-PTDDC LBA mapping registers are updated after mirror copying completes.

  • Patent number: 9652408
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing data integrity for stored data are disclosed. A method may include, in connection with the receipt of a read command at a storage resource, reading a data block from the storage resource, the data block including a data field, a data integrity field indicating the integrity the data field, and an encryption indicator field indicating whether the data block is encrypted with a current cryptographic key for the storage resource. The method may further include determining whether the data field is encrypted with the current cryptographic key based at least on the encryption indicator field. The method may additionally include returning at least a portion of the data block in reply to the read command in response to determining that the data field is encrypted with a cryptographic key other than the current cryptographic key.

  • Publication number: 20170098359
Abstract: A person support apparatus, such as a bed, cot, stretcher, or the like, includes an exit detection system that has, in some embodiments, multiple user-selectable modes. A first mode issues an alert in response to a static condition being met and the second mode issues an alert in response to a dynamic condition being met. The static condition may be defined by an unchanging boundary that triggers an alert if the occupant's center of gravity crosses the boundary. The dynamic condition may be defined by a changing boundary that triggers an alert if the occupant's center of gravity crosses it. The changing boundary may change based upon the occupant's height, weight, BMI, vital sign, or other characteristic. The changing boundary may also change based upon a position of one or more components of the person support apparatus, such as a siderail or Fowler section.

  • Patent number: 9605935
Abstract: Multi-charge munition suitable for defeating a concrete target consists of a detonatable array of hollow primary charges (14) of explosive supported laterally of a line of target penetration on which is disposed a secondary explosive charge (48). Simultaneous detonation of the primary charges in the array causes jet penetrators to be projected together towards the target which produce wide boreholes in concrete suitable for the subsequent emplacement and detonation of the secondary charge. The munition may be an aerially-deliverable bomb or submunition. In one preferred embodiment, the primary charges (14) are positioned in a convergent configuration behind a forwardly-tapered secondary charge (48). Detonation of the primary charges projects penetrators forwardly passed the sides of the secondary charge and thrusts the secondary charge into the borehole produced in the target by the penetrators.

  • Patent number: 9535866
Abstract: A wide link communicates information between a storage enclosure having plural storage devices and an information handling system by selectively configuring upstream and downstream paths of narrow links to communicate in the same direction. A link load analyzer detects predetermined conditions, such as over utilization or under utilization of narrow link capacity, which initiates a re-configuration of the direction of information through a path of a narrow link. A master link manager configures a narrow link path to manage communication of configuration information for one or more narrow link paths configured to communicate in a direction.

  • Patent number: 9460110
Abstract: A file system extension (FSE) system and method that permits an on-disk-structure (ODS) incorporating spatially diverse data (SDD) to be stored on a daisy-chain of multiple SATA disk drive storage elements (DSE) that are coupled together with one or more pass-thru disk drive controllers (PTDDC) is disclosed. The PTDDC chain appears as a single logical disk drive to a host computer system (HCS) via a host bus adapter (HBA) or pass-thru input (PTI) port. The PTDDC chain may appear to the HCS as virtual disk storage (VDS) that is larger than the actual physical disk storage (PDS) contained within the DSEs. The PTDDC chain is configured to map the SDD to portions of the DSE that are actually present within the VDS and thus allow critical portions of the ODS to reside on the PTDDC chain with transparent access by an operating system running on the HCS.
