  • Patent number: 11553831
Abstract: A surgical tool, consisting of a handle and a flexible insertion tube, having a proximal end coupled to the handle and a distal end configured to be inserted into an orifice of a living subject. The tool has an inner tube, which is bendable without breaking over a range of angles in response to a bending force, and which retains the bent shape after the bending force has been removed. The inner tube is located within the insertion tube. A flexible tubing defines a lumen and is contained within the inner tube. A tool working tip is configured to contact tissue in the subject and to mate with a distal termination of the inner tube. A rigid outer tube grips outer surfaces of the working tip and of the inner tube so as to maintain an opening of the working tip in communication with the flexible tubing lumen.

  • Publication number: 20220296128
Abstract: Patient support apparatuses include a frame, support surface, and a controller. The controller provides notification to a user of a service event relating to the patient support apparatus. The controller limits functionality of a component of the patient support apparatus based upon a severity of the service event. The controller may also, or alternatively, detect when a control is activated by a user and, in response to such activation, determine whether the patient support apparatus has been marked for use or marked for servicing. If marked for use, the controller responds in a first manner, and if marked for service, the controller responds in a different manner. In other embodiments, a method is provided for determining an order in which multiple patient support apparatuses should be service. In still other embodiments, the patient support apparatus automatically changes to an unusable configuration when in need of high priority service.

  • Publication number: 20220270459
Abstract: A smoke or fire detector is described for mounting on a ceiling. A first part (110) is for mounting on the ceiling and a second part (110) houses a detector. The second part has a top-plate (116) with an annular recess. Electrical connections are arranged above the recess. A pair of drains (111) are provided through a surface of the recess, with conduits (113) extending downwards from the drains. The annular recess directs condensation to the drains (111) and down through the conduits (113), away from the electrical connections. In use, a differential air pressure between a ceiling void above and a lower surface of the smoke or fire detector provides a stack effect to assist drainage of condensation.
