  • Publication number: 20250116981
Abstract: An appliance includes a cabinet, an interior cavity defined by the cabinet, a storage compartment positioned within the interior cavity that supports a temporarily stored item, a temperature control system, a gas detector, and a scanning apparatus that has at least one camera and is configured to record and store image data associated with a user's preference. The scanning apparatus conducts first and second data capturing phases. A difference between first and second data sets is analyzed to produce a current inventory manifest. The appliance also includes a weight scale and a controller. The controller evaluates a location of the temporarily stored item based on the image data and determines remaining contents of the temporarily stored item based on data from the weight scale. The controller determines a preferred air velocity for the storage compartment based upon data collected from the gas detector and the weight scale.

  • Patent number: 12251627
Abstract: Disclosed is a system for controlling a robot via a foot-operable controller. The foot-operable controller includes a grid of large pressure-sensitive tiles that are responsive to being stepped on. Signals from the pressure-sensitive tiles are provided to a controller interface that converts the signals to control messages compatible with existing robot control interfaces, such as a universal serial bus. The foot-operable controller may be used to control various robots, including for example a robot equipped with a claw arm or a robot equipped with a ring launcher.

  • Patent number: 12253721
Abstract: A microscope may receive a fiber optic connector via a connector adapter that includes an opening and may align a ferrule of the fiber optic connector with the opening of the connector adapter, where the ferrule includes a ferrule endface. The microscope may transmit light onto the ferrule endface and may receive reflected light, as an image of the ferrule endface, with a camera of the microscope. The microscope may determine intensities of brightness of the image and may create a topographical map of the intensities of the brightness of the image. The microscope may determine a radius and an apex of the ferrule endface based on the topographical map and may calculate an apex offset of the ferrule endface based on the radius and the apex of the ferrule endface. The microscope may perform one or more actions based on the apex offset of the ferrule endface.

  • Publication number: 20250043839
Abstract: A brake includes a rotor rotatably coupled to a rotating body for rotation about a rotational axis. A brake plate and an armature are disposed on opposite sides of the rotor. A spring and an electromagnet urge the armature in opposite directions into and out of engagement with the rotor to move the rotor into and out of engagement with the brake plate and engage and disengage the brake. The brake plate and electromagnet each define a central bore configured to receive the rotating body. The brake is characterized by a target supported on a radially extending face of the rotating body or the rotor and a sensor aligned with the target through the central bore of the brake plate or the electromagnet. The sensor generates, responsive to the target, position signals indicative of a rotational position of the rotor and rotating body.

  • Publication number: 20250024605
Abstract: Described herein are methods for forming welded and soldered connections to flexible interconnect circuits and assemblies comprising such connections. An assembly can include a weldable transition unit having a transition pad and a solderable pad. The transition pad may comprise aluminum and can be welded to the aluminum conductive trace of a flexible interconnect circuit. The solderable pad can be soldered to the electrical contact of a device (e.g., a resistor, capacitor). In some examples, the weldable transition unit may comprise a stiffener mechanically connected to the transition pad to provide mechanical support of the transition pad and devices soldered to the transition pad. In some examples, the device soldered to the weldable transition unit may include one or more individual electronic components. In some examples, the device soldered to the weldable transition unit may be a printed circuit board (PCB) having solderable traces.

  • Patent number: 12169962
Abstract: Digital image segmentation is provided. The method comprises training a neural network for image segmentation with a labeled training dataset from a first domain, wherein a subset of nodes in the neural net are dropped out during training. The neural network receives image data from a second, different domain. A vector of N values that sum to 1 is calculated for each image element, wherein each value represents an image segmentation class. A label is assigned to each image element according to the class with the highest value in the vector. Multiple inferences are performed with active dropout layers for each image element, and an uncertainty value is generated for each image element. Uncertainty is resolved according to expected characteristics. The label of any image element with an uncertainty above a threshold is replaced with a new label corresponding to a segmentation class based on domain knowledge.

  • Publication number: 20240377438
Abstract: Approaches presented herein provide for a short circuit testing fixture in which a switch arm is associated with a switch bridge and with a trigger mechanism to enable testing of electrical shorts in high powered DC circuits. The trigger mechanism causes the switch arm to contact the switch bridge and close an energized circuit to cause a short. The switch arm maintains the closed energized circuit after the short until the circuit is deenergized.
