  • Publication number: 20130243283
Abstract: An image system for detecting chemiluminescence in a sample uses a highly binned, short exposure initial image to calculate the exposure time for a final image of the sample. After calculation of the exposure time, at least two final images are taken, with saturated pixels removed and replaced in a first image with corresponding unsaturated pixels from a second image. The corresponding pixels are adjusted to reflect the different intensity levels between the first and second images, and the first image becomes the final image reflecting the detected chemiluminescence.

  • Publication number: 20110134238
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and systems for imaging biological/chemical samples are provided. A calibrated imaging system can allow a user to obtain an optimal focus setting (position) for any effective distance (e.g. a zoom setting). The optimal focus can be determined from a functional approximation that defines a relationship between effective distance and focus setting. A user can input a size, and an imaging system can determine the appropriate effective distance and focus. An imaging system can also determine a size based on any effective distance. A flat-field correction can also be determined for any effective distance or size.

  • Publication number: 20100187441
Abstract: An adaptor is designed as an accessory to an ultraviolet transilluminator for the excitation of fluorescent molecules or labels in a planar array of biochemical samples such as a two-dimensional electrophoresis gel to enable the emissions resulting from the excitation to be detected and quantified. The adaptor is constructed to overlay the transilluminator and contains both a fluorescent dye that upon excitation by ultraviolet light emits light in the visible spectrum, and a conditioning substance that selects a portion of the wavelength band of the visible light produced by the fluorescent dye. The adaptor converts the ultraviolet light from the transilluminator to visible light while limiting the emissions reaching the detector to those that emanate from the sample. By the use of this adaptor, the transilluminator is adapted for use with samples labeled with dyes that are excitable by visible light and avoids exposure of the samples and the user to ultraviolet light.

  • Patent number: 7692162
Abstract: Images of two-dimensional chromatograms or other sample arrays are formed on a scanning instrument that utilizes a line of illumination light that sweeps the length of the array either by moving across the array or by the array moving relative to the light, in either case scanning the entire two-dimensional array with a unidirectional pass of the moving component. The use of a CCD equipped with time delay integration allows the instrument to form an enhanced image.

  • Publication number: 20070186379
Abstract: A removable handle assembly mounted on a pivotally attached enclosure member of a trash receptacle wherein the enclosure member rotates into and out of a covering or enclosing relationship relative to an opening through which garbage, debris, etc. is passed into the interior of the trash receptacle. The handle assembly comprises: (a) a connector that is attached to the enclosure member, the connector configured to receive (b) a removable outwardly and upwardly positioned contact member configured to engage the connector. The configuration and disposition of the handle assembly allows the user's hand or other body member to be positioned out of the way of direct contact with any trash, garbage, etc. being passed through the access opening into the interior of the trash bin as well as eliminating the need to touch the exterior surface of the closure member when positioning the closure member into an open position.

  • Publication number: 20070067735
Abstract: A graphical user interface includes a main screen adapted to display a graphical output from a processor and data input fields adapted to receive data. The graphical user interface also includes at least one expandable tile, the expandable tile having a closed state and an open state. The expandable tile causes display data and data input fields obscured by the expandable tile in the closed state to be revealed to a user when the expandable tile is placed in its open state.

  • Publication number: 20050165644
Abstract: Performance based delivery of content to an audience member. A network of audience member information collection domains provide information about audience members. A profiled audience member may belong to a network segment. Delivery of an advertisement to the profiled audience member is accommodated based upon membership in the network segment and performance criteria. The performance criteria may be configured to benefit a publisher, such as by maximizing revenue. Allocating revenue based upon the collection of data used to target audience members is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20050166233
Abstract: An audience matching network includes local domains that collect information about audience members, including behavioral and characteristics information. A network profile corresponding to information collected in the local domains is provided, and supports the definition of network audience segments. Membership in the network segments is used to accommodate the delivery of content such as advertising to particular audience members.

  • Publication number: 20050125289
Abstract: Systems, methods and apparatus for delivering content to an audience member over a computer network. A console allows a user to define audience segments that are organized in hierarchical fashion. The segments are then calculated by collecting profile data for audience members and determining whether members have attributes that a defined by the audience segments. The hierarchical definition of segments allows audience segments to be logically combined and facilitates efficient recalculation of audience segments. Profile synchronization provides an authoritative identifier that is used to reconcile the potential issuance of multiple identifiers for a given audience member.

  • Patent number: 5984990
Abstract: This invention pertains to equipment used in the custom fitting of golf clubs and in particular to a dustfree workbench for use by a golfsmith for customizing golf clubs having shafts manufactured from graphite, titanium or beryllium. The workbench includes a filtration system particularly designed for removal of the extremely fine particles generated in the cutting of golf club shafts, and characterized by the use of a series of high efficiency filters that the dust-laden air is passed through before being returned to the room. Grates placed within the upper surface of the workbench prevent larger items from passing therethrough and include dampeners for purposes of flow regulation. The filter assembly comprises a plurality of filter elements with various micron rating filters, referred to as coarse and fine, and assembled in order of decreasing porosity and placed in series and upstream of the blower.

  • Patent number: 5666872
Abstract: A tapering apparatus is mounted on a table platform for tapering a sheet of foam insulation. The apparatus utilizes a rotating wire through which a current is applied in order to heat the wire. The temperature of the wire is maintained above the melting temperature of the foam insulation so that the insulation is melt and cut as it is forced across the wire. A conductive wire forms an endless belt positioned around a pair of rotatable sheaves. The wire is responsive to the angular rotation of the drive sheave. The sheaves are vertically adjustable in order to set a desired height and cutting angle for the tapering of the sheet of insulation. The current flowing through the wire is controlled such that the wire is heated to a temperature above the melting point of the foam insulation. A variable speed motor is connected to the drive sheave which is used to rotate the wire about the sheaves. The sheet of foam insulation is then forced into the rotating wire.

  • Patent number: 4689926
Abstract: A building structure includes a building unit, such as a mobile home, house trailer, motor home, prefabricated building, hut or shed, duck blind, platform, or dock. There is also provided a shell, preferably of a resilient plastic material, which shell is of such size and configuration as to underly the building unit and provide a base upon which the building is supported. The shell defines a space between itself and the building unit. This space is substantially entirely filled with an insulating foam filling material in the shell. That is, according to the method of construction of the present invention, a dished shell with a hollow interior is placed at a selected building site in a concave, upward condition, which shell constitutes a main part of a foundation for the overall building structure.
