Abstract: A system for dispensing adhesive onto a surface is provided. This system includes a dispenser and a quantity of discrete units of adhesive releasably deposited on a substrate. The dispenser includes a drive mechanism that further includes an actuator for actuating the dispenser; and a drive wheel, wherein the drive wheel further includes mechanical means for engaging the actuator. An optional supply wheel may be included in the dispenser. The quantity of discrete units of adhesive is releasably deposited on a substrate that may be mounted on the supply wheel or that may simply sit within the dispenser. The substrate further includes means for cooperating with the drive wheel to incrementally advance the substrate a substantially fixed, and predetermined distance upon actuation of the dispenser.

Abstract: A cooking control unit for a kitchen-countertop appliance is configured to selectively engage the body of the appliance in operation and to selectively disengage from the appliance body for cleaning. The control unit includes an ejection mechanism that is operable to force the control unit away from the appliance body to cause the disengagement. The ejection mechanism can be related to a cooking selector configured to select a cooking parameter of the food to be prepared. For example, the ejection mechanism can include displacement members such as pins or cams and the cooking selector can include an ejection position. As the cooking selector is adjusted to the ejection position, the control unit is forced away from the body of the countertop appliance by the displacement members.

Abstract: A marking system is provided that includes a marking device having a volume of marking fluid stored therein. The marking device further includes: a head assembly that includes: a housing having a base with at least one aperture passing therethough, a frame mounted within the housing, wherein the frame further includes at least one biasing member that acts against the housing to allow a portion of the frame to extend from the housing or to be compressed into the housing, and a flexible, porous applicator mounted within the frame; and a flexible reservoir that is adapted to be attached to the head assembly. The at least one aperture in the base provides fluid communication between the applicator and the volume of marking fluid.

Abstract: A cutting system that includes a rotary blade cartridge that can be interchangeably used with a variety of cutting tools is disclosed. The cartridge houses a rotary blade assembly that is maintained in a secure and safe retracted state and that can be activated when the cartridge is inserted into a cutting tool. Activating a plunger of any of the cutting tools causes a piston of the rotary blade assembly to move the blade to an operative cutting position protruding from an aperture provided in the cartridge housing. Deactivating the plunger causes the blade to be return to its retracted and inoperative position within the housing. Cutting tools of the invention include rail cutters such as a primary workstation and a compact workstation, circle cutters, elliptical cutters, and freeform cutters. Each cutting tool is capable of receiving a rotary blade cartridge. Cartridges are freely interchangeable between the cutting tools.
