  • Publication number: 20180323905
Abstract: Methods and devices are described for determining reliabilities of bit positions in a bit sequence for information bit allocation using polar codes. The reliabilities are calculated using a weighted summation over a binary expansion of each bit position, wherein the summation is weighted by an exponential factor that is selected based at least in part on the coding rate of the polar code. Information bits and frozen bits are allocated to the bit positions based on the determined reliabilities, and data is polar encoded as the information bits. The polar encoded data is then transmitted to a remote device.

  • Publication number: 20180321123
Abstract: A droplet-based microfluidic rheometer system and method of use for real-time viscosity monitoring of blood coagulation is disclosed. Droplets of blood samples are generated in a microfluidic rheometer, and the size of the droplets is highly correlated to the sample viscosity. The size of the droplets can be determined optically using an inverted light microscope and a camera or using electrodes. The microfluidic rheometer systems provides viscosity measurements in less than a second and consumes less than 1 blood or plasma over an hour period. The viscosity measurements may be displayed and transmitted to the Internet or cloud storage.

  • Publication number: 20180322894
Abstract: A mathematical model may be trained to diagnose a medical condition of a person by processing acoustic features and language features of speech of the person. The performance of the mathematical model may be improved by appropriately selecting the features to be used with the mathematical model. Features may be selected by computing a feature selection score for each acoustic feature and each language feature, and then selecting features using the scores, such as by selecting features with the highest scores. In some implementations, stability determinations may be computed for each feature and features may be selected using both the feature selection scores and the stability determinations. A mathematical model may then be trained using the selected features and deployed. In some implementations, prompts may be selected using computed prompt selection scores, and the deployed mathematical model may be used with the selected prompts.

  • Publication number: 20180322179
Abstract: A non-transitory computer readable medium can store machine readable instructions that when accessed and executed by a processing resource cause a computing device to perform operations. The operations can include establishing a connection between data stores (such as a relational data store and a graph engine), wherein the connection includes a shared memory buffer storing data in a data format according to internal structures of the graph engine. The connection between the data stores is bi-directional. The connection enables data that is stored in the shared memory to be processed by either of the graph engine and the relational database. Upon receiving a query, the graph engine or the relational database can be selected to process the data based on a query. The data can be processed by the selected one of the graph engine or the relational database.
