  • Patent number: 9179546
Abstract: An information handling system circuit board interfaces storage device surface connectors and storage device controllers disposed on opposing sides by coupling a first circuit board portion having a controller press in connector to a second circuit board portion having plural surface connectors. The first and second circuit board portions couple to each other with an adhesive activated by curing. Resistant ink is printed over openings of the first circuit board portion where adhesive is applied in order to prevent the adhesive from flowing into the openings at or before the curing of the adhesive.

  • Publication number: 20150223364
Abstract: A hard drive carrier includes a frame to receive a hard drive. The frame includes a front and a side, and a handle connects to the front. The hard drive carrier engages with a hard drive bay to hold the hard drive carrier in the hard drive bay at a first insertion depth when the handle is in a closed position. The first insertion depth is selected to prevent a hard drive connector from engaging with an enclosure connector on a backplane of the hard drive bay. The hard drive carrier further engages with the hard drive bay to hold the hard drive carrier at a second insertion depth when the handle is in the closed position. The second insertion depth is selected to engage the hard drive connector with the enclosure connector.

  • Publication number: 20150072606
Abstract: The side profile of a hard drive assembly may be configured with one or more open areas to allow cooling air to pass side-to-side through a lateral flow channel provided by a cavity defined in the base portion of the hard drive assembly. Corresponding and complementary open areas may be also be defined in mating drive carrier assembly side components to allow passage of lateral side-to-side cooling air through the base portion flow channel of a hard drive assembled to the drive carrier assembly to form a mountable hard drive system that is installed into a storage enclosure. The at least partially aligned open flow areas of the assembled hard dive assembly and drive carrier assembly may cooperate to reduce air flow impedance across multiple rows of hard drive systems through a storage enclosure.

  • Publication number: 20140215231
Abstract: A data storage system includes a data storage controller, a data storage device, and a logic circuit. The logic circuit receives hard drive status information from the data storage controller. The information is communicated by a first status signal and a second status signal. The logic circuit provides a power control signal to the data storage device based on a logic state of the first status signal and a logic state of the second status signal.

  • Publication number: 20140189379
Abstract: A power supply unit includes two or more power converters. Each power converter provides power at a corresponding output terminal of the power supply unit. The power supply unit also includes a controller to determine an operating mode of the power supply unit. When the power supply unit is operating in one mode, the controller disables transmission of power at one output teiniinal in response to detecting a fault associated with another output terminal.

  • Patent number: 6480398
Abstract: A computer system includes a frame for attaching a plurality of electronic components including a predetermined electronic component. A cover for covering the electronic components is provided along with a mask having an opening. The mask is disposed between the frame and the cover so that a mask opening allows access to the predetermined electronic component while masking other electronic components. The cover includes an access cover panel that is released using a single button and pivoted for removal from the frame. The one-piece access cover panel is fabricated from a single piece of plastic and includes alignment tabs, pivot tabs, and snaps for attaching the access cover panel with the cover. Additionally, a metal shield is attached to the access cover panel for simultaneously shielding the predetermined electronic component when attaching the access cover panel to the cover. The metal shield reduces electromagnetic interference (“EMI”).

  • Patent number: 6130822
Abstract: A drive bay opening in the front bezel portion of a tower type computer CPU unit is provided with a swing-out plastic access door. The door is pivotable between a closed position and a full open stop position in which it is outwardly pivoted more than ninety degrees away from its closed position. A specially designed concealed, break-away hinge structure removably interconnects the access door and front bezel portion and includes a pair of hinge arms projecting outwardly from the door and molded integrally therewith. Outer end tabs in the hinge arms have apertures therein that rotatably receive hinge pins within recessed pocket areas in the bezel. In the event that the access door is forcibly pivoted outwardly beyond its full open stop position, separate disconnect pins disposed laterally outwardly of the hinge pins act as cams that torsionally deflect the hinge tabs out of engagement with the hinge pins.

A specially designed concealed, break-away hinge structure removably interconnects the access door and front bezel portion and includes a pair of hinge arms projecting outwardly from the door and molded integrally therewith. Outer end tabs in the hinge arms have apertures therein that rotatably receive domed hinge pins within recesses in the bezel. In the event that the access door is forcibly pivoted outwardly beyond its full open stop position the domed hinge pins act as cams that torsionally deflect the hinge tabs out of engagement therewith. As a result, the door simply pops off the bezel without damaging either the door, the hinge structure or the bezel.

  • Patent number: 5666263
Abstract: A coupling is configured to hold detachably a speaker on a computer component by a gravitational force acting on the speaker. The coupling may be a pocket on the component and a flange on the speaker. The coupling may include vertically aligned projecting elements on the component and corresponding receptacles on the speaker. The coupling may be hidden after the speaker has been mounted. To attach the speaker it is held near the component and then lowered with respect to the coupling mechanism to reach a position where the speaker is fixed relative to the component by a gravitational force.
