    Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for transmit signalling to configure a UE with a UE specific root to use in generating a Zhadoff Chu (ZC) sequence for reference signal transmission. With conventional LTE, a cell specific root is used within each cell. There is a need for a more flexible association between roots and UEs that, for example, allows for multiple roots to be associated with a cell. The provided approach may help with maintaining re-use distance as networks become denser. The method provided in this embodiment improves the capabilities of automatic driving and ADAS of electric vehicles. The method can be applied to vehicle networking, such as V2X, LTE-V, V2X, etc.

    Abstract: Methods and devices for uplink-based User Equipment (UE) tracking for UEs operating in a connected inactive operating state are provided. A transmit-receive point (TRP) transmits parameters to a UE that allow the UE to uniquely determine a UE-specific tracking sequence and assigned time-frequency (TF) resource that are independent of a TRP identifier associated with the TRP. The UE determines the UE-specific tracking sequence and assigned TF resource based at least in part on the parameters received from the TRP. While in the connected inactive operating state, the UE transmits a tracking signal that includes the UE-specific tracking sequence in accordance with the assigned TF resource. The TRP receives the tracking signal from the UE, detects the UE in accordance with the UE-specific tracking sequence to produce a UE detection status, and transmits a tracking response to the UE in accordance with the UE detection status.

    Abstract: Networks use channel state information reference signals (CSI-RSs) to measure channel conditions between a user equipment (UE) and a transmit/receive point (TRP) in a cell. The resources configured for the transmission of a CSI-RS may be indicated to the UE using higher layer signaling. Measurement results for a CSI-RS are transmitted by the UE in the form of a measurement report. A need exists for signaling designs that aim to provide more flexible and efficient signaling of CSI-RS resource configurations and measurement reports. In some embodiments, CSI-RS resource configurations and measurement reports are resource-specific. The CSI-RS resource configurations may be independent from an identifier of the cell that the CSI-RS is transmitted from, and the measurement reports do not necessarily include the identifier of the cell. Advantages may include allowing the network to freely allocate CSI-RS resources without the need for reconfiguration at the UE side.

A cell such as an eNodeB (eNB) or a transmit-receive-point (TRP) may transmit to a user equipment (UE) one or more synchronization signal (SS) blocks according to one or more beam directions available to the cell. Each beam direction may correspond to one or more antenna ports, and each SS block may correspond to an SS index. The cell may then transmit a CSI-RS signal configured according to the one or more antenna ports and the one or more SS blocks. In a different embodiment, the cell may select antenna ports of a neighbor cell for the CSI-RS signal based on a channel state measurement report of the neighbor cell received from the UE.
