Abstract: An apparatus and method for a Multicast and Broadcast Service (MBS) in a Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) system. In a method for operating a user terminal in a BWA system, an idle timer is driven when a flow for unicast connection has no traffic in an awake mode. Whether a broadcast service is being received is checked when the idle timer expires. The user terminal transitions from the awake mode to a fake idle mode when the broadcast service is being received.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing a buffer of a Radio Access Station (RAS) in a communication system are provided. An available buffer space determiner sets a threshold for each service class for scheduling packet input/output of the buffer according to priority of a service class, estimates and stores, upon receipt of a packet at the buffer, an available space size of the buffer after the packet reception, compares the estimated available space size of the buffer with a first threshold corresponding to a first service class indicative of a service class of the packet, and schedules packet input/output of the buffer according to the comparison result. A processor module schedules packet input/output of the buffer according to an output of the available buffer space determiner. The present invention can improve quality of services through service differentiation based on priorities of service classes and buffer management based on characteristics of the corresponding service traffics.

Abstract: Header suppression/compression apparatus and method for providing Multicast and Broadcast Service (MBS) in a Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) system are provided. The method includes checking an overhead ratio of a packet based on the MBS channels; when the overhead ratio of the packet is greater than a threshold, compressing a header of the packet according to a compression algorithm preset for the corresponding MBS channel or zone; and when the overhead ratio of the packet is less than the threshold, uncompressing the header of the packet.

The terminal state managing method includes examining whether a dormant timer of a terminal managed in an awake mode expires or not; when the dormant timer expires, examining whether the terminal receives a broadcast service; and when the terminal receives the broadcast service, managing the terminal in a fake awake mode.

Abstract: A system and method for transmitting/receiving a multicast/broadcast signal in a communication system are provided, in which if the communication system includes at least one zone to which the same service is provided and the zone includes at least one ASN_GW and at least one BS connected to the ASN_GW, the ASN_GW generates a second multicast/broadcast signal using a received first multicast/broadcast signal according to information about the zone, generates time information indicating a time when the BS is to transmit the second multicast/broadcast signal, and transmits the second multicast/broadcast signal and the time information to the BS.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a muffler apparatus of a compressor for hermetically and easily assembling a suction muffler and a base muffler disposed at the compressor so as to suck and attenuate the noise generated by refrigerant evaporated from an evaporator, the apparatus comprising: a suction muffler for being formed with a suction inlet for the refrigerant to be sucked thereinto and for being formed at one side thereof with a third tripping unit; a base muffler for being formed with a first and a second tripping unit protruded from the base muffler and into the third tripping unit protruded from the suction muffler, so that the base muffler and the suction muffler can be hermetically assembled to leave no gap therebetween.
