  • Publication number: 20110317110
Abstract: The present invention is intended to control the color temperature of white exhibited by a liquid crystal display device. White is produced when light waves emitted through pixels associated with three colors of red, green, and blue have maximum intensities. The amounts of light emitted through the respective pixels are controlled by differentiating the shapes of the pixel electrodes disposed at the respective pixels from one another. Thus, the color temperature of white is controlled. Otherwise, the shapes of interceptive films disposed at the respective pixels are differentiated from one another in order to control light waves emitted through the respective pixels. Thus, the color temperature of white is controlled. The interceptive film may be shaped like the pixel electrode. Otherwise, the interceptive film may be realized with an interceptive pattern other than that of the pixel electrode or one of openings bored in a black matrix.

  • Publication number: 20110310078
Abstract: A backlight includes light emitting diodes; a substrate on which light emitting diodes are mounted; and a reflection sheet. The surface on which the light emitting diodes are mounted of the substrate is opposed to a rear surface of the liquid crystal display panel. The liquid crystal display panel and the substrate each have a shape in which a common width in a first direction is longer than a width in a second direction, which is orthogonal to the first direction. The width of the substrate in the second direction is shorter than the width of the liquid crystal display panel in the second direction. The substrate is opposed to, while avoiding being opposed to both end portions of the liquid crystal display panel in the second direction, a central portion between the both end portions of the liquid crystal display panel.

  • Patent number: 8026885
Abstract: A display device and system are disclosed, wherein the display system is so configured that an n-fold rate increasing circuit is arranged with a signal generating device instead of with the display device to realize a low-cost n-fold rate impulse-type drive. The n-fold rate display data is output to the display device from the signal generating device, and the display device includes a circuit to subject the input n-fold rate display data to the data conversion process for the n-fold rate impulse drive. In addition to the n-fold rate display data, an identification signal for identifying the position of the turn of the frames of the original video signal is input to the display device to prevent the erroneous data conversion operation.

  • Patent number: 7995018
Abstract: A hold-type display device reduces the blur of a moving image and makes less conspicuous the color shift caused due to different blur positions among RGB. In the case where the relative brightness of the video data of one or two of the three primary colors RGB changes from between 0 and 0.5 inclusive for the previous frame to between 0 and 0.5 inclusive for the present frame, the video image of the one or two colors is delayed by one frame and displayed.
