  • Patent number: 7147463
Abstract: A child resistant lighter includes a housing having a trigger slideably mounted thereon. A latch, internal to the housing, prevents movement of the trigger and thus prevents ignition of the lighter. A lever is pivotally mounted on the trigger. In one position, the lever is flush with the trigger, and not readily discernable as a lock release mechanism. In a second position, the lever is raised off of the trigger. In the raised position, the lever contacts the latch to slide the latch in a direction that enables movement of the trigger.

  • Publication number: 20060023271
Abstract: Scanner with light source calibration mechanism. The scanner includes a light source that generates a white light utilized to scan an image. The light source calibration mechanism includes a calibration color sensor that generates a calibration color sensor output. The light source calibration mechanism receives a predetermined color profile that can be, for example, the amount of red, green light, and blue light expected from the light source utilized by the scanner for scanning. The color calibration mechanism calibrates the light source of the scanner based on the output of the calibration color sensor and the predetermined color profile.

  • Publication number: 20060007444
Abstract: Method and apparatus for detecting the presence of a color dye in a water sample are described. Light is generated and passed through a water sample. A color sensor is utilized to measure the light that passes through the water sample. Based on the measured light, it is determined whether a dye color is present in the water sample.

  • Publication number: 20060008919
Abstract: Method and apparatus for detecting the presence of an analyte (e.g., gas/radiation) that utilizes color change detection mechanisms. The apparatus has an indicator that changes color in the presence of the analyte. For example, in the absence of the analyte, the indicator reflects a first color. In the presence of the analyte, the indicator reflects a second color. The apparatus includes a color sensor that receives light reflected from the indicator and based thereon generates one or more signals that represent the reflected light. The apparatus also includes a color change detection mechanism that is coupled to the color sensor and that receives the signal generated by the color sensor and based on the signal determines whether the indicator has changed to the second color. Once it is determined that the indicator has changed to the second color, an alarm can be generated or remedial measures can be initiated.

  • Publication number: 20050041837
Abstract: Flow is represented by a synthesized or artificial pattern. Motion is visualized by apparent displacement of pixels from one frame to the next. An artificial pattern is introduced in order to present the flow. A changing parameter, such as velocity, is viewed as a function of multiple images or over time. The rate of change of the parameter is proportional to the perceived or actual motion. Humans perceive flow as a live stream, such as tap water pouring from a faucet or a stream in a creek. Flow associated with medical imaging is presented in a similar way, such that a pattern or other flow information persists over multiple images. The flow is synthesized by generating patterns and moving the generated patterns in the field of view. The direction and rate of motion of the pattern are a function of the direction and rate of the flow.

  • Publication number: 20040202978
Abstract: A lighter nozzle system includes a diffusion body having a receiving opening adapted for communicating with a liquefied fuel storage of a lighter, an emitting opening, at least an air inlet provided thereon, wherein the air inlet is positioned adjacent to the receiving opening to define an elongated mixing chamber axially extended between the air inlet to the emitting opening, wherein a flow of air is capable of inletting into the mixing chamber through the air inlet to mix with a fuel releasing through the receiving opening to form a mixture gas at the emitting opening of the diffusion body. A nozzle assembly includes a nozzle head provided at the emitting opening of the diffusion body and a torch diversion arrangement provided at the nozzle head for radially diverging the mixture gas to produce a stylish torch when the mixture gas is ejected and ignited at the nozzle head.
