  • Patent number: 8462626
Abstract: The present system uses point-to-point data links between intelligent network elements located in the feeder/distribution network to provide reliable, secure, bi-directional broadband access. Digital signals, or messages, are terminated at the intelligent network elements, switched and regenerated for transmission across additional upstream or downstream data links as needed to connect a home to a headend or router. Messages indicative of an end user routing ID (RID) are identified and the information extracted for user with successive messages. In this manner, the data links are made over relatively short runs of coax cable, which can provide greater bandwidth than the typical end-to-end feeder/distribution connection between a home and the headend or optical network unit.

  • Publication number: 20130121156
Abstract: A method for efficient propagation of link state advertisements in densely interconnected OSPF networks is disclosed for reducing the number of duplicate LSAs propagated during a flooding event. The efficient propagation method includes calculating an LSA propagation subgraph which is used by a node which receives an LSA to determine which links to propagate the LSA upon. This allows a significant reduction in the LSAs which traverse the network during a flooding event. The reduction in LSAs is particularly useful for reducing network convergence times associated with flooding events. In addition, a system is disclosed for performing the method in both a centralized and dispersed manner.

  • Patent number: 8190750
Abstract: In a method for dynamically setting a content rate of a multimedia session for a client in a network, a proxy server receives a channel condition feedback message from a network controller and determines whether a receiver report message has been received from the client since a most recent previous channel condition feedback message. The channel condition feedback message includes current channel condition information for the network. The proxy server sends one of an extended feedback report message and a short feedback report message to a media server based on the determining step. The short feedback report message includes at least a maximum transmission rate parameter for the multimedia session. The extended feedback report message includes at least information contained in the receiver report message. The extended feedback report message may, in addition, include the maximum transmission rate parameter for the multimedia session.

  • Publication number: 20120071153
Abstract: Among the various methods proposed to address interference problems in wireless networks, two promising ones are: Network Multi-Input-Multi-Output (often referred to as Network MIMO) decoding (which employs joint MIMO receiver processing of signals received at multiple antennas); and Multi-Cell Successive Interference Cancellation (MC-SIC). These methods have complementary strengths and limitations when implemented in a practical setting. The approach described herein attempts to combine the strengths of these two methods while working within the constraints imposed by practical implementations to provide a viable hybrid solution.

  • Publication number: 20110124289
Abstract: Embodiments are described herein to provide improvements to known network interference cancellation techniques. One general approach involves a receiver attempting to decode (801) a received signal which includes signaling from a wireless device transmission and at least one interfering transmission. If the receiver is unsuccessful in attempting to decode the received signal, decoded signaling that corresponds to the interfering transmission is requested (802). The receiver then uses the decoded signaling to decode (803) the received signal.

  • Patent number: 7924883
Abstract: The present system uses point-to-point data links between intelligent network elements located in the feeder/distribution network to provide reliable, secure, bi-directional broadband access. Digital signals are terminated at the intelligent network elements, switched and regenerated for transmission across additional upstream or downstream data links as needed to connect a home to a headend or router. The intelligent network elements can be co-located with or replace the standard network elements to take advantage of existing network configurations. A tree-and-branch network architecture is therefore established in which each intelligent network element is assigned a routing ID employed in the point-to-point transmissions while leaving legacy analog signals unimpeded. In this manner, the data links are made over relatively short runs of coax cable, which can provide greater bandwidth than the typical end-to-end feeder/distribution connection between a home and the headend or optical network unit.
