  • Patent number: 5592290
Abstract: A method for correcting an instrumental error due to wavelength error of a spectroscope of an optical analyzer for measuring an optical density reflected from or transmitted through a dry analysis element. One standard color plate having a standard optical density OD.sub.ST is measured by an optical analyzer to be corrected to obtain an measured value OD.sub.M. A measured optical density OD.sub.S of the element applied with a sample through the optical analyzer to be corrected is corrected by using a ratio of OD.sub.M /OD.sub.ST to obtain a corrected measured value OD.sub.C of the sample. The standard color plate to be used contains an indicator dye contained in the non-reacted dry analysis element or a dye having an absorption spectrum same as or similar to that of the indicator dye in the measurement wavelength range. Another correction method in consideration of a layer coefficient of a dry analysis element is also provided.

  • Patent number: 5484174
Abstract: Pipe fittings for joining piping materials have a main body with a substantially equal diameter to that of the piping materials to be joined, an annular expanded portion formed at least at one end portion thereof and enlarged diameter portions on each side of the annular expanded portion. The piping materials are joined by inserting them into the pipe fittings and by pressing the outer enlarged diameter portion along the circumference at an end portion thereof to subject the enlarged diameter portion and the piping materials to plastic deformation. By virtue of recesses formed at the pressed portions, the pipe fittings and the piping materials are firmly fixed together. A tapered portion provided at the end of the pipe fittings effectively increases the slip-off checking force, and also the Joint can be perfectly sealed by the sealing material received in the internal space of the annular expanded portion, having been deformed by the application of pressing.

  • Patent number: 5099259
Abstract: A halftone image printing device for printing an image consisting of picture elements arrayed in a zig-zag fashioning. Each picture element is composed of dots forming a quasi-diamond-shaped matrix. The dot matrix is a 2 (row) x 3 (column) matrix with two additional dots located at the top and bottom, respectively. The range of optical density, within which the densities represented by the picture elements fall, is segmented into sub-ranges. Different heating-resistors are assigned to each sub-range of density. The dots printed by the heating-resistors assigned to any sub-range of density forms a "dot pattern" of a specific shape. The first dot pattern has one dot printed on the upper-central part of the rectangular matrix. The second dot pattern has three dots forming an L-shaped pattern, the first dot printed on the upper-central part of the matrix, the second dot printed above the first dot, and the third dot printed to the right of the first dot.

  • Patent number: 5009527
Abstract: A thermal transfer color printer for printing color images on individual sheets of paper. One sheet of paper at a time is removed from a stack of paper stored in a cassette and this sheet is transported by a reversible platen roller in a first or forward direction at a first predetermined rate. While the sheet of paper is gripped between the reversible platen roller and one or more pinch rollers, slack is removed by a slack removing device. A multicolored ink ribbon with successively arranged color segments also is transported in the first direction at the same predetermined rate. A thermal printhead presses against the reversible platen roller to press the ink ribbon and sheet of paper together as they move in the first direction. Energization of the thermal elements on the thermal printhead by color component signals corresponding to the current color of the ink ribbon causes the particular current color to be thermally and selectively transferred to the sheet of paper.

  • Patent number: 4910603
Abstract: A half-tone image reproduction apparatus, which comprises a Dither matrix memory, constituted by a plurality of elements, for storing a multi-level Dither matrix having multi threshold levels assigned to the individual elements, input data supplying means for supplying the element on the Dither matrix and an input density level, and print dot forming means for forming print dots in accordance with the energy control level selectively read out from the Dither matrix memory. The energy control level stored in the Dither matrix memory is set in accordance with rules for changing the energy control level in accordance with a change in input density level. These rules are independently suitably determined for the respective partial density ranges which constitute a whole density range for the input density. According to this invention, gradation jump and deformation at a high density region can be prevented so that a half-tone image with smooth gradation and high resolution can be attained.

  • Patent number: 4890121
Abstract: A halftone image printing device represents an image using a pixel matrix, prints each pixel as a dot pattern constituted by predetermined dots in a dot matrix, and controls the dot pattern and the printing density (multilevel density) of each dot included in the dot pattern in accordance with the density (multilevel) of the pixel. An overall printing density range is divided into four density ranges, i.e., from the lowest to the highest density ranges, and each pixel is defined by a 3.times.3 dot matrix.

  • Patent number: 4884080
Abstract: A color image printing apparatus prints one pixel by superposing a predetermined dots of three colors within a 3.times.3 dot matrix in accordance with a density of the pixel. The positions of the printed dots within the dot matrix are stored as a dot pattern for each color. One dot pattern is used for each of a plurality of densities included in one density range. The printing energy for each of the dots included in the dot pattern is controlled in accordance with the density level of the pixel. The dot pattern is different for each color and three dot patterns are stored for each color and for each density range. These three dot patterns are repeatedly used for every three pixels which are continuous in the horizontal direction. These three dot patterns have two or three texture directions. The texture direction other than the vertical direction is different for each color.

  • Patent number: 4880260
Abstract: A method of joining a pair of pipes is disclosed. The method includes forming one of the pipes with an enlarged diameter near one end thereof. A radially-outwardly flared section widens from the enlarged diameter toward the end of the pipe. An elastic gasket and a C-shaped rigid ring are placed in the flared section. A second pipe is then inserted inside the enlarged section of the first pipe. The outer pipe is then inwardly deformed by the action of a pressure member, such as the die, applied to the exterior of the outer pipe in the region of the pipe overlap. The free end of the outer pipe deforms plastically inwardly toward the inserted pipe thereby compressing the gasket into sealing engagement between the two pipes and compressing the C-shaped ring. As the C-shaped ring is compressed, the outer pipe is deformed into the inserted pipe so that the ring is engaged by the inner wall of the outer pipe and is wedged into the outer wall of the inserted pipe.

  • Patent number: 4850096
Abstract: A method of joining first and second piping materials with a C ring. The C ring has a sharp annular rim along the internal peripheral surface thereof on the pipe end side, and the C ring also has a cross-section such that a first cornered edge formed along the internal peripheral surface of the C ring on the annular gasket side and a second cornered edge formed along the external peripheral surface of the C ring on the pipe end side each define an acute angle. An end portion of the second piping material is inserted into the socket and into the C ring. The piping material are held by means of a pair of clamping jaws each having a tapered plane of clamping action opposing each other, and the jaws are then moved closer to each other along the axis of the pipes, respectively, for pressurizing the piping materials to effect plastic deformation of at least the maximum diameter portion at the end of the first piping material to deform the gasket and clamp the piping materials together.
