  • Publication number: 20130282240
Abstract: A display control apparatus for a vehicle includes a steering angle detector, an operation detector, a display section, and a setting section. The steering angle detector detects a steering angle of the vehicle. The operation detector detects an operation to an operation unit mounted on a steering wheel of the vehicle. The display section displays an operation image on a display unit located behind the steering wheel in such a manner that the operation image changes according to the operation detected by the operation detector. The setting section sets a display position of the operation image on the display unit according to the steering angle detected by the steering angle detector so that a driver of the vehicle views the operation image at a position adjacent to the operation unit.

  • Publication number: 20130006508
Abstract: Provided is an apparatus and method for automatically creating stopping rates of vehicles at signal-equipped intersections. A signal-equipped intersection to be subjected to specifying of stopping rates at signal-equipped intersections is selected from a signal-equipped-intersection information storage unit as a target intersection, a pass-through-intersection extraction that extracts a signal-equipped intersection that was passed-through just before reaching the target intersection as a pass-through intersection is conducted according to a prescribed rule, driving-history data of a probe car is classified for each of the routes that start from the pass-through intersection and pass through the target intersection, and the rate at which the probe car stopped at the target intersection is specified as a stopping rate, for each of the classified routes.

  • Publication number: 20120140074
Abstract: An electronic mirror includes a first display section, a second display sections and a half mirror disposed between the display sections. The first display section displays a surrounding image captured by an imaging device in a display region. The second display section displays a frame image that has a shape taken along an outer periphery of the display region. A distance between the first display section and a point of the half mirror is greater than a distance between the second display section and the point the half mirror so that the frame image is offset relative to the outer periphery of the surrounding image when viewed in the half mirror.

  • Publication number: 20120123657
Abstract: A subject vehicle runs under a fixed speed travel at a target speed by an auto-cruise system. When it is determined that the subject vehicle cannot arrive at a destination using a present residual fuel quantity, a navigation apparatus is caused to retrieve an eco-route. It is then determined whether the subject vehicle can arrive at the destination by running the eco-route at a fuel-efficient speed which can consume fuel efficiently using the present residual fuel quantity. When it is determined that the subject vehicle can arrive, the fuel-efficient speed is presented as a recommended speed. Thus, a driver of the subject vehicle is urged to designate the fuel-efficient speed as a new target speed for the auto-cruise control.

  • Patent number: 7966123
Abstract: A display device for a vehicle has a display unit that has a meter display area and a navigation display area. The meter display area displays vehicle operation condition, and the navigation display area displays travel route guidance. When a display color changes in the travel route guidance in the navigation display area, color of the vehicle operation condition in the meter display area is also changed so that the color of the travel route guidance becomes more eye-catching than the vehicle operation condition.

  • Patent number: 7957896
Abstract: A vehicular display system includes an in-vehicle navigation device and a vehicular meter device. The in-vehicle navigation device includes a display, a navigation data producing device for producing first data that is to be displayed on the display, and a transmitting device for transmitting intermediate data to the vehicular meter device. The vehicular meter device includes a receiving device for receiving the intermediate data from the in-vehicle navigation device and a navigation data display area for displaying second data. A display size changing device for changing the first data into the second data is included in at least one of the in-vehicle navigation device and the vehicular meter device. A display size of the first data is different from the display size of the second data.

  • Patent number: 7774136
Abstract: When an accessory switch of a vehicle is turned on, a TFT display device in an instrument panel is in a magnified display mode, where a navigation image is displayed in a magnified area of a navigation display area with no meter images displayed. A driver is therefore allowed to attentively view the navigation image in order to perform a route set or to change scales of a displayed map. When the driver further turns on an ignition switch, the magnified display mode is switched to a normal display mode. In the normal display mode, a meter display area and a vehicle state display area coexist with the navigation display area in the TFT display device; a navigation image is displayed in a normal area of the navigation display area with a meter image, e.g., a speed meter image, and a warning indicator image displayed simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 7725255
Abstract: A vehicular display system includes an in-vehicle navigation device and a vehicular meter device. The in-vehicle navigation device includes a display device, a character string storing device, and a character string converting device. The character string storing device stores a navigation display character string that is to be displayed in the display device. The character string converting device converts the navigation display character string into a meter display character string. The vehicular meter device includes a navigation display area. The meter display character string is displayed in a navigation display area.

  • Patent number: 7642901
Abstract: When an ignition switch is turned on to display an image on a display apparatus, the display apparatus first displays a needle image of meter images and a warning indicator image. Out of the meter images, the display apparatus displays the needle image for a specified time period (e.g., 0.2 seconds), and then displays a dial image. After displaying the dial image for a specified time period, the display apparatus displays a navigation image. The specified time period may be set to 0.5 through 1.0 second, for example, long enough to visually check or recognize display of the meter image and the warning indicator image. Accordingly, it is possible to visually check the meter image and the warning indicator image while the navigation image is not displayed.

  • Publication number: 20090058861
Abstract: A word input support device has a display device and a control circuit. The control circuit classifies an inputted character into multiple character groups, and changes a character group that is displayed according to an intentional operation of a user. If a word desired to be finally inputted is among registered words contained in word dictionary data, characters that can be inputted are narrowed down each time a character is inputted so that changing the display from one character group to another is enhanced. If there is not a character anymore that can be inputted in one character group under display, the word input support device changes its display to another character group, which still has a character that can be inputted.

  • Patent number: 7488906
Abstract: A steering switch device has an operation member to be operated on a steering wheel of a vehicle. An operation condition of the operation member is controlled by a control unit when the steering wheel is rotated. The operation member is for example a cylindrical member and disposed operable in a rotation manner. When the steering switch is rotated, a rotating operation of the cylindrical operation member is restricted by the control unit. Alternatively, the rotating operation of the operation member is controlled to be loaded. In a case that the operation member is a button member for indicating a direction, a pressing operation of the button member is controlled so as not to be pressed or to be loaded by the control unit when the steering wheel is rotated.

  • Patent number: 7395152
Abstract: A map image showing a current position and its surroundings, a route, and an arrow are displayed and superimposed on one another. The arrow has a base indicating the current position and a length indicating a predetermined distance along the route. The arrow has the transparency adjusted to be half transparent to make the map image and route discernible. The arrow moves along with the current position as a vehicle travels on the route. When the route is rectilinear, the shape and length of the arrow do not change. When the route is turned left at an intersection, the arrowhead is turned left after reaching the intersection. Since the arrow is displayed along the route, the arrowhead is disposed on a road to which the vehicle is brought by a left turn made on a road on which the base is disposed.
