  • Patent number: 5295722
Abstract: A retractable folding top for motor vehicles, having a top frame which comprises a material retaining hoop forming the lower termination of the top, and a top storage box for accommodating the folded top. The top storage box can be closed by a top storage box lid, following which it is held shut by a closure. The top has a position of rest of the material retaining hoop on the top storage box lid when the top is closed, in which the material retaining hoop is noncontinuously connected to the top storage box lid via a closure arrangement. To simplify operation, the closure arrangement between the material retaining hoop and the top storage box lid has only a single closure which is arranged in the central region of the overlap zone between the top storage box lid and the material retaining hoop.

  • Patent number: 5254996
Abstract: A remote control system has a transmitter, a current storage device feeding its triggerable control signals, an external receptacle into which the transmitter can be inserted, and a charge monitoring device with charge-state indicator. The charge monitoring device with charge-state indicator is assigned to the receptacle and preferably causes the transmitter to automatically transmit a control signal after being inserted into the receptacle. Via the charge monitoring device, the charge state of the transmitter can be evaluated independently of the voltage supply from the current storage device of the transmitter either directly via its voltage supplied under load or indirectly via the intensity of the control signal emitted by it, and be indicated if respective minimum values are undershot. The system is suitable for remotely controlling motor-vehicle security devices.

  • Patent number: 5224364
Abstract: A device is disclosed for sensing the rotary angle of a key-actuated lock system which contains a lock cylinder of a door or flap of a vehicle which is rotatable by way of a key. A follower is coupled to the lock cylinder via a driving coupling allowing a free-wheel rotational play and to a protection element of a lock and is rotatably mounted in a door interior. A switch-actuating part is rotationally coupled to the lock cylinder virtually free of play and is rotatable synchronously with the lock cylinder and a control switch which is switchable by the switch-actuating part at a specific rotary angle of the part and directly spatially adjacent thereto. The switch-actuating part is mounted behind the follower in relation to the lock cylinder on a carrier facing the interior of the vehicle and is fixed to the door or flap. A control switch is retained at least indirectly on the same carrier, and at least these two parts are sealed off relative to the door interior.

  • Patent number: 5183300
Abstract: A fastening arrangement for a movable part especially a folding top or a roof of a motor vehicle. The arrangement includes a rotary latch which serves for securing a fastening pin of the movable part and is rotatable by means of an actuating device for a blocking and release of the fastening pin which can be retained by means of a detent pawl. In the locked position of the fastening, the detent pawl rests in an undercut principal notch of the rotary latch. High frictional forces and disturbing noises therefore are avoided during the unlocking operation. The rotary latch is rotatable through a specific angle oppositely to the blocking direction of the detent pawl by means of a control device activatable by the actuating device.

  • Patent number: 5184022
Abstract: A method and device for the electrical control of a central locking system and of a mechanical securing device (that provides additional lock protection) for motor vehicles by a lock cylinder that interacts with at least two control switches. This method and device ensures a better utilization of the electrical control switches, in that, an unlocking control switch assigned to the unlocking of the central locking system and the deactivation of the mechanical securing device is switched in addition to a locking control switch assigned to the locking of the central locking system. If the lock cylinder is pivoted in the locking direction beyond its regular locking position, the resultant joint switching state of the two switching control devices is evaluated to activate the mechanical securing device.

  • Patent number: 5052200
Abstract: A locking device for lock components, for example on vehicles, with two rotary closures which are arranged at a distance from one another and are connected by means of a mechanical transmission element to form a synchronously rotating closure unit and which interact with two catch bolts assigned to the two rotary closures, each located in a housing having an orifice adapted to receive the catch bolts. The two rotary closures of the closure unit, in their release position, are each blocked by means of an associated control member against rotation into locking engagement with the associated catch bolt. The control members are movable into an unblocked position in response to penetration of the catch bolts into the orifice of the housing, and the locking advance of the rotary closures is permitted only after both catch bolts have penetrated fully into the orifice in the housing.

  • Patent number: 5050410
Abstract: The invention relates to a vehicle locking device having a mechanical rotary connection between a cylinder core of a lock cylinder and a lever system of an associated lock and comprises a driver coupling having two sleeve bodies which are mounted coaxially to one another and, in their installed position, are positively coupled to one another with the interposition of a rotary lost motion freewheeling connection. The rotary movement of the sleeve body drivable by the cylinder core, via a rotary connection element, is sensed for the purpose of controlling an additional locking function superposed on the rotation of the cylinder core. The other sleeve body is dynamically coupled to a securing element of the lever system of the lock. In order to achieve a substantial freedom in the arrangement of the control elements, the two sleeve bodies are rotatably connected to one another and are independently rotatably mounted on a support, spaced from the lock cylinder.

  • Patent number: 5031957
Abstract: An intermediate folding top bow is fastened, via cantilevers arranged at its ends, to lateral roof-frame parts of a vehicle folding-top structure. During the opening operation of the folding-top structure, the intermediate bow is pivotable out of a tensioning position directed forwardly into a stowage position directed rearwardly. To make it possible to ensure that the intermediate bow will be stowed automatically and without being damaged, the intermediate bow is loaded during the opening of the folding top with a pivoting effect by a separate working element so that starting from its tensioning position, the intermediate bow is driven beyond a dead center between its tensioning position and its stowage position.

  • Patent number: 4951981
Abstract: A rotary-latch lock in which a forked rotary latch is blocked against pivoting from a position locking a closing bolt. A spring loaded detent edge of a catch member engages behind a centrally directed catch edge extending from a circumferential edge of the forked rotary latch. In order to prevent an unintentional release of the rotary-latch lock, when the latter is subjected to dynamic stress, the catch edge is a limiting edge of an approximately U-shaped catch recess into which the detent end of the catch member engages. A rear edge of the detent end is located at a distance and opposite a limiting edge of the catch recess. In the event of oscillating movements of the forked rotary latch, the limiting edge butts against the rear edge of the detent end.

  • Patent number: 4948184
Abstract: Motor vehicle door lock or the like with a pivotally mounted locking catch (3), a pivotally mounted pawl (4) which blocks the locking catch (3) in a preliminary locking position and a main locking position, and with a locking mechanism (5) for operating the locking catch (3) and pawl (4). The locking mechanism (5) has an outside release lever (6), and when outside release lever (6) is operated, pawl (4) can swing into a release position freeing locking catch (3), e.g., by being lifted. The manipulation of the lock is improved since, in the opening movement, when the locking catch (3) is in the main locking position and the release lever (6) is operated, the pawl (4) is swung into the release position, where it is retained independently of the further operation condition of outside release lever (6) until the locking catch (3) has passed the preliminary locking position.
