  • Publication number: 20080078288
Abstract: The invention relates to a lightweight piston comprising heat pipes. The aim of the invention is to simplify the structure of such a piston while at the same time allowing for an improved heat dissipation from the piston areas subject to heat load while avoiding thermal stress. For this purpose, a plurality of liquid-filled heat pipes each having an evaporator and a condenser end is used, whereby the evaporator end is configured by short pipe sections that are oriented in the thickness at bottom towards the focal point and that are interlinked by means of a composite heat pipe extending in parallel to the piston head. At least two pipe sections functioning as the condenser end are coupled with the composite heat pipe in such a manner as to configure, by way of a pipe connection arranged on the condenser ends, a closed coolant cycle between the evaporator end, composite heat pipe and condenser end of the heat pipe.

  • Patent number: 6722263
Abstract: The aim of the invention is to provide an easy fastening of a tubular supply or a vertical pipe in a bottom covering of a cooling chamber for pistons of internal combustion engines, e.g. in a circular covering of a cooling channel of an articulated-skirt piston. To this end, the vertical tube or the tubular supply is clipped into the bottom covering or is fastened thereto by a detent connection.

  • Patent number: 6379415
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for feeding solids into metal or steel melts whereby granular solids required during the analysis adjustment are fed in a predetermined quantity into the turbulent regions of the metal melt in a dense flow process by means of a pneumatic conveying device in order to achieve a high output while avoiding expensive and complex measures associated with lances and capital-intensive investments for injection devices and lance-moving devices.

  • Publication number: 20020025378
Abstract: A method is disclosed for treating the surface of tools made of tool steel, wherein primary carbides are embedded in the tool steel matrix. The thickness of the primary carbides disposed near the surface can be reduced by forming a surface which has point-wise recess; alternatively, the primary carbides can be completely removed. A hard material layer is deposited on this surface. The invention also describes tools made of tool steel, wherein primary carbides are embedded in the tool steel matrix. The primary carbides are significantly recessed, and a hard material layer is deposited thereon.

  • Patent number: 6202619
Abstract: The invention relates to a piston with a central cooling chamber. The cooling chamber is located beneath the piston head and is impinged upon by oil. At least the lower wall of the cooling chamber is formed by a plate. The purpose of the invention is to provide a means of fixing the plate to the piston as easily as possible. To this end, the piston has at least one second pin or clamping sleeve situated above the piston pin. The second piston pin or clamping sleeve has a smaller diameter, extends approximately in the direction of the piston pin axis, and is connected to the piston. The plate which forms the lower wall of the cooling chamber is supported against the second piston pin or clamping sleeve.

  • Patent number: 6048126
Abstract: A mushroom-type pin retainer for a pin having a central bore and which connects a piston and a piston rod of an internal combustion engine. The pin retainer is comprised of a mushroom head connected to a shaft. The shaft has a section of larger diameter for insertion into the bore of the pin. This section is no longer than 2 mm in an axial direction and is located remote from the mushroom head, so that the pin retainer may swing by a limited angle during mounting in the bore. This configuration makes the assembly simple to mount, even if it is manufactured by an imprecise manufacturing process such as injection molding.

  • Patent number: 6045617
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method and a reactor system for CVD surface coating. In this method, the reaction gas is supplied to the reactor chamber with any frequency and at any time intervals in succession, rising and falling in the form of a pulsed gas stream. The reversal of the gas flow direction is performed by a multipath valve located inside the reactor which can be controlled from outside by means of an adjusting shaft.

  • Patent number: 4145595
Abstract: A gas-shielded arc-welding torch constituted by a holder section having a barrel adapted to retain a tungsten electrode and a handle section which supplies electric current to the holder section as well as an inert gas thereto, the holder section being bendable relative to the handle to assume any desired angular working position. Included in the handle section is a conductive metal helix of solid wire, one end of which is connected by a tubular metal coupler to the barrel of the holder section, the other end being connected by a pipe to a hollow electrical connector to define a current-supply line extending from the connector to the barrel.

  • Patent number: 3996443
Abstract: A machine for fabricating structural elements such as reinforcement trusses or girders wherein spaced flange elements are welded to a continuous, zig-zag shaped web to form a composite beam. The machine bends flat strands to form the zig-zag webs and then feeds them continuously to a welding means where the webs and flange elements are welded on an intermittent basis into an integral unit.
