  • Patent number: 8325709
Abstract: In one aspect, multimedia connections are enabled between terminals coupled to a first communication network with a power characteristic control system and to a second communication network for transmitting multimedia data to be controlled in a simple manner. When a switching-oriented power characteristic is activated, the power characteristic control system controls a base connection by means of the first communication network between a first terminal and a second terminal. In the framework of the base connection, address information identifying the first terminal in the second communication network and multimedia information are transmitted to the second terminal.

  • Patent number: 7852833
Abstract: There is described a system for switching from an established media path to a new media path for packets transmitted between first and second end points in a packet based network. An instruction is transmitted to the first end point instructing it to set up a new receiving channel for receiving packets transmitted from the second end point over the new media path. An instruction is transmitted to the second end point instructing it to configure a sending channel to send packets over the new media path for reception on the new receiving channel of the first end point. For a time period during the switching, the first end point monitors for packets simultaneously on both its new receiving channel and an established receiving channel configured to receive packets transmitted from the second end point over the established media path. This systems helps ensure a seamless switchover from the established to the new media paths.

  • Patent number: 7701927
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for transmitting communication data in a communication system (CSY) between a calling first communication unit (IPPA) and a called second communication unit (IPPD), wherein, in a first step a primary connection is set up starting from the first communication unit (IPPA) via at least one node unit to the second communication unit (IPPD) with transmission of addressing data of the communication units (IPPA,IPPD) and node units participating in the setup of the primary connection. Following this, the first communication unit (IPPA) and/or a first node unit disposed along the primary connection which have a valid addressing data element are registered as the ingress node. Furthermore, the second communication unit (IPPD) and/or a last node unit disposed along the primary connection which have a valid addressing data element are registered as the egress node.

  • Patent number: 7702079
Abstract: In one aspect of the invention, emergency modes of operation for an adapter unit comprising a channel transmitter/receiver unit, a data packet transmitter/receiver unit, and a data insertion/data retrieval unit which inserts signaling data transmitted by the channel receiver unit into data packets and forwards the same to the data packet transmitter unit while retrieving signaling data from the data packets received by the data packet receiver unit and forwarding the same to the channel transmitter unit is provided. The adapter unit especially allows terminals of a branch to be connected in a fail-safe and simple manner to a central telecommunication system.

  • Patent number: 7602897
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for supporting the mobility of a subscriber across a communication system comprising a communication terminal which is associated with a first communication device and can be registered when a log-on procedure is initiated by the input of log-on information relating to the subscriber, a second communication device for providing configuration data of the subscriber, and a packet-oriented network by which means the communication terminal is connected to the first and second communication devices. Once a successful registration has been carried out, the communication terminal is logged off the first communication device and associated with the second communication device.

  • Patent number: 6823055
Abstract: A method for implementing inter-node user mobility in a communication network which enables a user to perform an inter-node change between terminals of the communication network while retaining individual user settings. For this purpose, after the user has registered at a terminal coupled to a first network node, user-oriented configuration data are requested by a home network node or similar of the user, identified by the user, and are subsequently transmitted to the first network node. The latter then initiates a user configuration to be set for the user via the configuration data transmitted.

  • Publication number: 20040198342
Abstract: A system allows a user who uses a portable communications device (for example, a cell phone or PDA) to answer telephone calls to use service features (for example, call forwarding) that are available on a communications system (for example, a corporate communications system), even though the portable device is not a part of the communications system. A transceiver in the telephone establishes a wireless link with a transceiver in a local communications device (for example, a workstation) of the communications system. The user then causes a transfer instruction to pass over the wireless link to the local communications device. This instruction causes the communications connection to be transferred to the local communications device such that the local communications device can be used to handle the call. After the transfer, service features available on the communications system are available to service the call.

  • Patent number: 6744875
Abstract: A method for switching between two communication links present between two communication systems. A first and a second communication system are connected through a first link which uses a first communication network and through a second link which uses a second communication network. These two links each include a transmitting channel and a receiving channel that are used for data transmission by the communication systems. The first link is switched into the second link by switching between the transmitting channel and the receiving channel of the two communication systems.

  • Publication number: 20040043787
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a communication system for controlling the user interface of a mobile communication terminal (MKE), which is registered to a communication facility (PBX). Said communication facility uses a stimulus telephone protocol (STP) for controlling a user interface of wire-linked communication terminals (DEG). According to the invention, control information for the representation of the user interface in the mobile communication terminal (MKE) is transmitted by the communication facility (PBX) to the mobile communication terminal (MKE) at least partially by means of a packet-oriented communication protocol (WAP) converted from the stimulus telephone protocol (STP).

  • Patent number: 6430283
Abstract: A communication system with a plurality of private branch exchanges and [sic] team function overlapping private branch exchanges wherein, a team function controller is provided in a private branch exchange and the team terminal equipment of another private branch exchange are connected via an extension connection in the form of a hot line. A team function sub-controller in the private branch exchange of the detached subscribers switches the calls of these subscribers via the hot-line and the private branch exchange with the team function controller. Given malfunction of this private branch exchange or of the hot-line, the team function sub-controller routes calls outgoing from the detached team terminal equipment via a network termination device of the communication network to which they are directly connected.

  • Patent number: 6320954
Abstract: A communication system consisting of at least two private branch exchanges with switching nodes is indicated, whereby in one of the private branch exchanges a team function controlling is provided for the realization of a team function between team terminal apparatuses. Team terminal apparatuses belonging to this team are connected to the second private branch exchange as remote subscribers, and are connected into the team function via a hotline connection between the first communication apparatus and the second communication apparatus. The team function controlling effects, for incoming calls, an automatic call forwarding to team substitute subscriber terminal apparatuses, if it recognizes that the hotline connection to the second private branch exchange is disturbed.

  • Patent number: 6236721
Abstract: A method for route searching from a calling subscriber of a first terminal that is connected to a first communications network to a terminal of a called subscriber. In this case, the terminal of the called subscriber, whose address for setting up a call is initiated by the first terminal, is connected to a second communications network. Call diversion to a diversion destination is activated for the terminal of the called subscriber, in which case the diversion destination is not assigned to the second communications network.
