  • Publication number: 20100211290
Abstract: A fuel injection amount from fuel injection valves is actively controlled and an input air-fuel ratio is caused forcibly to oscillate. A system from the fuel injection valves to the air-fuel ratio sensor is simulated by a first order delay system, and a gain and time constant are identified on the basis of the input air-fuel ratio relating to the model and an output air-fuel ratio obtained from the air-fuel ratio sensor. The presence of an air-fuel ratio abnormal variation is diagnosed on the basis of whether or not the identified values of the gain and the time constant are less than a first and second predetermined values respectively.

  • Publication number: 20100083635
Abstract: The concentration of a portion of components in the hydrocarbon in exhaust gas flowing into a catalyst is detected or estimated, and the concentration of the portion of components in the hydrocarbon in the exhaust gas flowing out of the catalyst is detected. On the basis of the concentrations of the portion of components in the hydrocarbon flowing into the catalyst and the concentration of the portion of components in the hydrocarbon flowing out of the catalyst, it is determined whether or not the catalyst has been deteriorated.

  • Publication number: 20100062248
Abstract: First, wood or bamboo is crushed to obtain wood powder with an average grain size of 5 ?m to 100 ?m. Next, the wood powder is put in a first mold, and a first compression molding step is carried out under the conditions that, for example, a temperature is 160° C. and a pressure is 30 MPa. Thus, a temporary molded body is obtained. Subsequently, the temporary molded body is immersed in a flame retardant and a surface of the temporary molded body is impregnated with the flame retardant. Thereafter, the temporary molded body is put in a second mold, and a second compression molding step is carried out under the conditions that, for example, a temperature is 200° C. and a pressure is 100 MPa. At this time, ingredients such as lignin and a hemicellulose are separated from the wood powder, and function as an adhesive. For this reason, pieces of crushed material are firmly bonded with each other so as to be integrated into a single body. Thus, a compression-molded product with a predetermined shape is obtained.

  • Patent number: 7671820
Abstract: A hemispherical Luneberg dielectric lens including a hemispherical center layer having a hemispherical outer surface, and a plurality of hemispherical dome-shaped layers each having concentric hemispherical inner and outer surfaces, the outer surfaces of the center layer and dome-shaped layers having different diameters and the inner surfaces of said dome-shaped layers having different diameters. The center layer and dome-shaped layers are successively concentrically fitted into one another and integrated into a hemispherical shape. The center layer is a foam molding of ceramic-containing thermoplastic resin expanded beads, while each of said dome-shaped layers is a foam molding of thermoplastic resin expanded beads containing 0 to 80% by weight of a ceramic. The ceramic content per unit volume of the center and dome-shaped layers decreases from the center layer to the outermost dome-shaped layer, and the standard deviation of the apparent density of each of the center and dome-shaped layers is 0.

Abstract: The oxygen storage capacity preceding a previous oxygen storage capacity and the previous oxygen storage capacity of each of an upstream catalyst and a downstream catalyst are measured, and a present oxygen storage capacity of the downstream catalyst is measured. Then, sulfur poisoning of the upstream catalyst and the downstream catalyst is detected on the basis of an oxygen storage capacity change amount of each of the upstream catalyst and the downstream catalyst from the oxygen storage capacity preceding the previous one to the previous oxygen storage capacity, and the oxygen storage capacity change amount of the downstream catalyst from the previous oxygen storage capacity to the present oxygen storage capacity. The presence/absence of the sulfur poisoning can be accurately detected by utilizing the difference between the manners of sulfur poisoning of the two catalysts.
