  • Patent number: 6709884
Abstract: The invention provides a light emitting device and a semiconductor device each having improved characteristics by preventing occurrence of a damage caused by contact of a tool. On a substrate, an n-type semiconductor layer, an active layer, and a p-type semiconductor layer are stacked. On the p-type semiconductor layer, a p-side electrode is provided. The p-type semiconductor layer has a projected portion for limiting current in correspondence with a current injection area in the active layer. A projected portion is formed on the surface of the p-side electrode in correspondence with the projected portion for limiting current. On the surface of the p-side electrode, a protective portion is also provided in correspondence with the area other than the current injection area in the active layer. The top face of the protective portion is higher than that of the projected portion.

  • Patent number: 6690865
Abstract: The invention provides a method for efficiently performing the alignment work of a laser diode chip with an optical fiber. A laser diode chip is faced to a coupling end face of a lensed fiber. According to algorisms stored inside an algorism storage part, X, Y and Z stages move the lensed fiber for alignment. The lensed fiber takes in laser light as it is moved in the optical axis direction (Z-axis direction) of the laser light from the laser diode chip. The lensed fiber is moved in the Z-axis direction by every movement, a half of a wavelength of the laser light, on the basis of the reference position thereof. Every time at the step moving, a light power of the laser light incident into the lensed fiber is measured. A position where the measured value becomes the maximum or a neighboring position thereof is defined as the optimum position of the optical fiber in the Z-axis direction.

  • Patent number: 6678047
Abstract: A controller of an optical axis aligning apparatus carries out quadric surface approximation with a plane parallel to a connecting end face of an optical component or an optical fiber, in order to align the emission axis of the optical component and the optical axis of the optical fiber in connecting the component and the fiber, and then carries out quadric function approximation in the direction of an axis perpendicular to the plane related to the quadric surface approximation, thereby securely finding a maximum light quantity point at a lower frequency of stage operation in the aligning apparatus to shorten the tact time for optical axis alignment.

  • Publication number: 20020172475
Abstract: The present invention provides a ferrule holder comprising an integral assembly which comprises first pinching portions for pinching the side of a ferrule in a optical ferrule-attached fiber through a line contact of about 2 mm in the longitudinal direction of the ferrule and second pinching members for pinching the side of the ferrule through a line contact of about 0.5 mm in the longitudinal direction of the ferrule, when the adjustment of optical axis in the optical ferrule-attached fiber is to be performed before it is optically coupled with an optical part. Since the adjustment of optical axis is performed while pinching the side of the ferrule through the relatively short line contact in the longitudinal direction of the ferrule after the ferrule has been fixed to a first supporting member, the sufficient range of leverage movement can be secured.

  • Publication number: 20020063888
Abstract: A sender device 1 stores, in header information about image information, information indicating that attribute information and image data rearranged in sequence, and produces image information by means of storing attribute information and image data in a predetermined sequence. The thus-produced image information is sent to a receiver device 2 by way of a network line 3. When receipt of image information is initiated, the receiver device 2 refers to the header information, thereby determining presence/absence, in the header information, of information indicating that attribute information and image data are stored in a predetermined sequence. When it has been determined that attribute information and image data are arranged in a predetermined sequence, image data included in the received image information are immediately decompressed, and the thus-decompressed image data are output in the form of a record or display.

  • Patent number: 5854940
Abstract: An output controlling device for reducing a processing time and substantially reducing erroneous determinations. In an image recording apparatus or the like, when a control language describing input data sent from a higher level apparatus is determined, determining rules set for respective control languages are consecutively applied. Since an optimum determining rule can be applied with respect to each control language, it is possible to simultaneously attain a reduction in the processing time and a lowering of the possibility of erroneous determination as compared with a case where the same determining rule is applied uniformly. In addition, if command groups are classified, and different determining rules are used for respective groups, the case is equivalent to a case where a plurality of determining rules are applied with respect to each control language, so that a further reduction in the processing time and a further lowering of the possibility of erroneous determination can be attained.

  • Patent number: 5207070
Abstract: In an air conditioner having a single outdoor unit and a plurality of indoor units, if at least two indoor units supply operation commands, an indoor unit allowed to be operated and an indoor unit not allowed to be operated are determined in accordance with a predetermined operation priority order. An operation standby signal is sent to the indoor unit not allowed to be operated. If the indoor unit allowed to be operated stops its operation, a new indoor unit is determined by again referring to the operation priority order. A confirmation signal is then sent to the determined new indoor unit under the standby state until then. If the indoor unit received the confirmation signal sends a response signal indicating that the indoor unit still intends to operate, then an operation permission signal is given to the new indoor unit.
