  • Patent number: 7481246
Abstract: A lateral pipe lining material comprises a tubular resin-absorbing material impregnated with a curable resin and a brim attached at one end thereof. The lining material is positioned so that the brim faces a peripheral edge of a lateral pipe opening of the main pipe. A ring-shaped gasket composed of an elastic material is attached to an upper surface of the brim, and a bonding resin is applied thereto. The gasket seals a gap between an inner peripheral surface of the main pipe and the brim. The lateral pipe lining material is evertedly inserted into the lateral pipe in a state in which the bonding resin applied to the brim is brought into contact with the inner peripheral surface of the main pipe. In such a configuration, ground water can be prevented from seeping into the bonding resin applied to the brim even if the ground water flows into the main pipe from a break of the lateral pipe.

  • Patent number: 7451783
Abstract: A spacer is constituted by overlapping on a first wedge-shaped member, whose upper surface is inclined at a prescribed angle, a second wedge-shaped member, whose lower surface is inclined at the same angle. This spacer is inserted in the gap between a inner wall surface of an existing pipe and the outer periphery of a rehabilitating pipe. Latching teeth are formed in the inclined surfaces of the first and second wedge-shaped members so that, when pressing the second wedge-shaped member to move it toward the first wedge-shaped member in the insertion direction, it cannot move in the direction the reverse of the insertion direction. Upon moving the second wedge-shaped member to the respective latch positions, the overall height of the spacer is successively increased in steps at a fine pitch, thus enabling the adjustment of the position of the rehabilitating pipe with respect to the existing pipe to be performed simply.

  • Patent number: 7402030
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for everting a tubular pipe lining material for rehabilitating an existing pipe. The apparatus has a sealed storage container storing a rotary body around which the pipe lining material is wound in a roll. An electric motor undergoes rotation in a first rotational direction to rotate the rotary body to wind the pipe lining material on the rotary body and undergoes rotation in a second rotational direction opposite to the first rotational direction. An eversion nozzle is attached to the storage container for everting the pipe lining material. When fluid pressure is supplied into the storage container to pull the pipe lining material out from the storage container and evert it via the eversion nozzle, the electric motor is caused to rotate in the second rotational direction due to the pulling out of the pipe lining material and to function as an electric generator to brake the pullout of the pipe lining material.

  • Patent number: 7398797
Abstract: There is provided a pipe lining method wherein a lateral pipe lining material and a main pipe lining material are securely joined. After a lateral pipe has been lined, a start liner is applied to the main pipe and a main pipe lining material is then inserted. A heating wire for melting the start liner is mounted on a surface of a flange of the lateral pipe lining material during or after lining of the lateral pipe. While the main pipe is being lined, the heating wire is heated to melt the start liner existing between the flange of the lateral pipe lining material and the main pipe lining material. When the resin in the main pipe lining material is cured, the main pipe lining material and flange of the lateral pipe lining material are integrated. This allows the lateral pipe lining material and main pipe lining material to be reliably joined.

  • Publication number: 20080105320
Abstract: Integrally formed plastic segments comprising an inner surface plate constituting an inner peripheral surface and lateral plates vertically arranged on an edge part of the inner surface plate extending in a circumferential direction are coupled in a circumferential direction to assemble pipe units 10, 10?. The pipe units are coupled sequentially in the longitudinal direction of a pipe, and a rehabilitating pipe is laid down in an existing pipeline. When an existing pipe 21 is bent, the pipe units are coupled at a bending part 21b in the longitudinal direction of the pipe via coupling members so that central axes X1, X2 of the pipes are angled toward each other to create a bend. A gap formed between the pipe units at the bent part is covered by a cladding. Such a configuration enables a rehabilitating pipe to be watertight and resistant to external forces.

  • Publication number: 20080095932
Abstract: When a pipeline 1 is to be repaired, a pressure medium is caused to act upon a pressure container to thereby turn a lining material 3 inside out for insertion into the pipeline 1 in an everted state. While the lining material 3 is pressed against an inner peripheral surface of the pipeline 1, vapor mist 20a from a vapor tube 16 and normal-temperature water from a coolant tube 30 are sprayed in order to mix the vapor mist and misted normal-temperature water. The vapor mist is substantially uniformly cooled through such mixing, and the cooled vapor mist is blown against an inner surface of the lining material 3. This enables a thermosetting resin impregnated in the lining material 3 to be heated and cured at an optimal temperature. The same effect can also be obtained by omitting the coolant tube 30 and spraying only the vapor mist or hot water mist.

  • Publication number: 20080054625
Abstract: A segment (1) is an integrally formed plastic unit comprising an inner-surface plate constituting an inner circumferential surface and lateral plates and end plates that are vertically arranged on a rim of the inner-surface plate. The segments are linked in a circumferential direction and in a pipe length direction to construct the rehabilitating pipe. A pipe unit (10) is made from segments linked in the circumferential direction. A band (30) is attached for encircling the outer circumference of the pipe unit and restraining same. A fastening force is produced on the band by a metal fastener, and the pipe unit is restrained in a fastened state by the band. Therefore, the pipe unit does not readily deform due to external forces, and the strength of the rehabilitating pipe itself can be increased.

  • Patent number: 7311122
Abstract: A pipe lining material for lining the main pipe of a sewer has a soft tubular resin absorption material impregnated with a liquid thermosetting resin, and also has a biodegradable film applied to the external peripheral surface of the pipe lining material. The pipe lining material is everted and inserted in the main pipe, pressed against the internal peripheral surface thereof, and cured to line the main pipe. After the lining is complete, there is no need to peel away and dispose of the biodegradable film because the film that is left behind is naturally decomposed and removed by microorganisms residing within the main pipe. This allows lining work to be simplified and carried out in a shorter period of time, reduces operation costs, and improves the lining finish.

  • Patent number: 7311121
Abstract: A lateral pipe lining material comprises a tubular resin absorbing material impregnated with a setting resin, which has a flange at one end thereof and whose outer surface is coated with a highly airtight film. A sealing tube is detachably attached to the outer circumferential surface of the tubular resin absorbing material. The lateral pipe lining material is introduced inside a main pipe and its flange is brought into tight contact with the lateral pipe opening. The lateral pipe lining material including the sealing tube is then everted and inserted by fluid pressure inside a lateral pipe toward the ground level. After the setting resin is cured, the sealing tube is removed from the lateral pipe lining material. This enables the lining of a lateral pipe to always be performed reliably, regardless of the aboveground circumstances.

  • Publication number: 20070275162
Abstract: A tubular pipe lining material impregnated with a thermosetting resin is inserted into a pipeline and made to expand and press against an inner peripheral surface thereof. Hot water or steam is sprayed onto the pipe lining material to cure the thermosetting resin impregnated therein. Hot water that has accumulated in a bottom part of the pipe lining material is pumped out to an external location by a pump and cooled by a cooling device to generate cool water, which is then sprayed via a hose onto the cured pipe lining material to thereby cool the heated pipe lining material. This enables the thermally cured pipeline lining material to be reliably cooled and rendering a water truck unnecessary that is required at a construction site to supply additional cooling water.

  • Publication number: 20070095472
Abstract: An apparatus for everting and inserting a pipe-lining material to rehabilitate an underground pipeline comprises an everting nozzle that is disposed so that an opening thereof faces an opening of the pipeline. The pipe-lining material is brought un-everted up to the everting nozzle and attached to the nozzle opening thereof and fluid pressure is applied inside the pipe-lining material to evert and insert it in the pipe-extending direction of the pipeline to be rehabilitated. Eversion of the pipe-lining material is started at the location of the pipeline opening and the pipe-lining material remains flat without being everted in a curved portion where the travel direction of the pipe-lining material changes toward the pipeline opening. This allows no considerable friction to be generated at the curved portion and the pipe-lining material to be smoothly and reliably everted and inserted into the affected pipeline.
