  • Publication number: 20060110032
Abstract: A method of detecting the base concentration of a film is provided comprising the steps of generating a concentration histogram from the film image in each of the RGB color components read out with an image pick up device, shifting and stretching the histograms in the other colors towards the histogram in the reference color in the concentration axial direction, calculating an superimposed area between the two histograms in the two color components after the stretching process, and finding the shift rate and the stretch ratio when a total of the respective superimposed areas calculated is the greatest value. As the minimum of the lowest concentration in the histograms at the shift rate and the stretch ratio determined is specified to represent the location of the base concentration in the original histogram, the base concentration in each color component of the film can be calculated from the location of the base concentration in the histogram.

  • Publication number: 20050175220
Abstract: One target pixel is selected from a plurality of defective pixels. By adjusting a searching interval based on the number of pixels included in image data to be processed, one or more normal pixels are searched and detected on each of opposed sides across the target pixel along each search line. By using pixel values of the detected normal pixels, an interpolation value for the target pixel for each search line is calculated. And, by using pixel values of the normal pixels detected along the search line, a weight coefficient is calculated for each search line. Then, by using the interpolation value for the target pixel for each search line and the weight coefficient, a weighted average value of the interpolation value is calculated to be used in correction of the target pixel.

  • Publication number: 20050058362
Abstract: For correcting a defective portion in image data having a plurality of pixels, a plurality of first target pixels are selected one after another from normal pixels. Any defective pixel is detected within a predetermined area extending about each selected first target pixel as its center and also a normal pixel present on an extension line connecting the first target pixel and the defective pixel is detected and set as a second target pixel. For each defective pixel present between the first target pixel and the second target pixel, an interpolation value is calculated. Further, for each pair of the first target pixel and the second target pixel, a weight coefficient is calculated. The technique stores such plurality of interpolation values and weight coefficients. Then, by using the weight coefficient, a weighted average value of the interpolation values for each defective pixel is calculated and this weighted average value is used for the correction of each defective pixel.

  • Publication number: 20040001644
Abstract: An image processing system for correcting digital image data read from a photographic medium. This system includes a diffusing process unit (23) for effecting a diffusing process on an original image composed of the digital image data, thereby to generate a diffused image, and an image correcting unit (25) for generating a corrected image by effecting synthesis between the original image and the diffused image.
