  • Patent number: 6542637
Abstract: An image scanning part scans, for example, a film with a CCD. Then it forms image data indicating an image on the film from the output of the CCD, and it outputs this image data to a computation control part. The computation control part inputs the image data from the image scanning part, temporarily memorizes this image data in an image memory, and based on the image data it decides whether a panoramic image is photographed in each picture frame. After a decision is made it then informs this decision result to a printing apparatus. The method and apparatus can also identify whether a plurality of picture frames of the film has a region with a predetermined density in a common location relative to the picture frames. The density of each picture frame can then be determined while excluding the region with the predetermined density in the common location of each of the plurality of picture frames.

  • Patent number: 6365526
Abstract: An optical illumination system wherein an increased amount of light from a light source can reach a light valve, in which a luminous flux of the light source is irradiated upon a first lens array. The luminous flux having passed through the first lens array is introduced to the polarization conversion system provided immediately before a second lens array, and a luminous flux coming out from the polarization conversion system is introduced to the second lens array and then irradiated upon the light valve. The first lens array has an image forming position f which satisfies S<f<L where L is an optical path length of a longer one of optical paths of P polarized light and S polarized light decomposed from the luminous flux from the light source by the polarization conversion system and S is an optical path length of a shorter one of the optical paths.

  • Patent number: 6354901
Abstract: In a discharge lamp sealing apparatus 30, luminescent substances are charged into an arc tube 11 through an opening 13b thereof, and an electrode member 15 is then inserted into the arc tube 11 through the opening 13b. A lower end of the arc tube 11 is supported by a support jig 57 in a state that a glass ring 16c is placed around the circumference of the opening 13b. The arc tube 11 is set in an air-tight condition by a feeding conduit 51 and inserted into a heating unit 40. The heating unit 40 fuses the glass ring 16c with heat of an infrared lamp and thereby seals the opening 13b. During the sealing process, one end of the arc tube 11 is supported by the support jig 57. The support jig 57 is mainly made of a material having a greater thermal conductivity than that of the material of the arc tube 11, for example, a metal material like Al or Cu. This arrangement enables heat to be readily conducted from the arc tube 11 to the support jig 57 and accordingly prevents a temperature rise in the arc tube 11.

  • Patent number: 6291101
Abstract: The present invention provides a lithium secondary battery using, as a lithium ion occluding agent for a negative electrode, a substantially amorphous oxide powder in which a product V·d of a total volume V in cm3/g of pores with a diameter of 100 nm or less and a true density d in g/cm3 measured by a helium displacement method is 0.1 through 0.5. Thus, the lithium secondary battery can attain an excellent charge-discharge cycle characteristic.

  • Patent number: 5555073
Abstract: A photographic copying apparatus has a DX code reader for reading a DX code or identification code on negative film, a film scanner for acquiring density information of the negative film, and an exposure station for exposing printing paper. The exposure station is controlled based on exposure information derived from conversion information selected with reference to the identification and density information. A reference film is test-coped for correction purposes, and conversion information for plural types of film is corrected based on density of the test copy and density of the reference film measured by the film scanner.
