  • Patent number: 7569993
Abstract: In a gas discharge tube there is carried out narrowing of the discharge path with cooperation of the first opening 20 and second opening 12 in order to obtain higher luminance of light. Further, in order to maintain excellent starting-properties of a lamp even if the discharge path is narrowed, a predetermined voltage is applied to a second discharge path limit portion 11 externally. Thereby, a positive or active starting discharge is produced in such a manner as to pass through the first opening 20. Further, the second opening 12 is comprised of not only a straight section 13 extending in a direction of an optical axis Y, but also a spread section 14 extending from an end portion of the straight section 13 toward the first opening 20.

  • Patent number: 7557509
Abstract: The present invention relates to a gas discharge tube or the like having a structure for enabling the maintenance of discharge startability and the prevention of the shortening of the life of an anode section and for increasing the amount of visible light from a visible light source passing through a discharge path restricting section. The gas discharge tube comprises a sealed vessel in which gas is encapsulated. A cathode section and anode section for generating discharge are arranged in the sealed vessel. Furthermore, a discharge path restricting section for narrowing a discharge path is arranged between the cathode section and the anode section. In particular, an opening portion is formed in the anode section, and the cross section of the opening portion has a non-circular shape where the maximum opening width in a first direction is different from that in a second direction orthogonal to the first direction.

  • Patent number: 6694022
Abstract: A digital broadcasting receiver includes a tuner unit for receiving digital broadcasting in formation, an information storage unit for storing the digital broadcasting information together with copyright information, and a decoder unit for decoding the digital broadcasting information into an output signal in a form to be displayed. When a copy-disallowance signal is detected during an operation for reading and reproducing digital broadcasting information from the information storage unit, by employing a reproducing pointer, the digital broadcasting receiver simultaneously erases the digital broadcasting information by employing a simultaneous erasing pointer. On the other hand, when a copy-disallowance signal is detected while digital broadcasting information is being received and stored in the information storage unit, the digital broadcasting receiver inhibits outputting the received digital broadcasting information as an output signal in a form to be displayed through the decoder unit.

  • Patent number: 5085060
Abstract: Described herein is a clip ring type ornamental clasp which can be used in various ways for securely gripping thin material like a handkerchief as well as relatively thick material like a belt. A clip ring is pivotally attached on a gripping surface of an ornament body through a ring support member. A rubber sheet with a bulged portion in its center portion is securely bonded on the gripping surface, while an anti-slip cover structure of rubber or other material of a large frictional coefficient is fitted on the clip ring. The anti-slip cover structure is provided with an opening of a larger diameter than a cloth threading hole in the clip ring, so that the marginal edges of the cloth threading hole are exposed at the inner periphery of the opening in the cover structure. The ornamental clasp grips cloth or other article securely between the anti-slip member and the anti-slip cover structure with high gripping force, and can be used in various ways without slip-off.

  • Patent number: 4847871
Abstract: A plurality of assumed detection value series correspond to combinations of a plurality of Viterbi detection series and a plurality of assumed detection values. The Viterbi detection series correspond to possible survived paths. The assumed detection values correspond to a current input value. A data series corresponds to intersymbol interference. Assumed input amplitude values are determined in accordance with the assumed detection value series and the data series. Differences between the assumed input amplitude values and the current input value are calculated. Likelihoods corresponding to degrees of sureness of survived path branches are calculated on the basis of the calculated differences. One of the possible survived paths is selected in accordance with the calculated likelihoods. A detection value is generated in accordance with the selected survived path.
