  • Publication number: 20090278902
Abstract: A printer includes a set cover pivotally movably provided on a carriage. The cover can be set in a closed state in which the cover presses a head of the cartridge housed in the housing portion and an open state in which the cover opens the housing portion when the cartridge is replaced. A release lever is subjected to a bias force so as to protrude from an inner wall surface of the housing portion. The release lever is movable against the bias force. The release lever comes into contact with an end of the cartridge which faces the bottom surface when the cartridge is inserted into the housing portion. The release lever contacts the rear surface of the cartridge housed in the housing portion. The bias force is stronger when the cover is in the open state than when the cover is in the closed state.

  • Publication number: 20090224460
Abstract: A burden on a user when changing sheets such as with an ink jet printer and the like is reduced, and the necessary stack space is secured without considering the step difference up to the mounting surface of an ejected paper tray worth of the amount of curls for sheets that easily curls such as post cards and the like. Thus, enlargement of the apparatus and increase in the manufacturing cost are suppressed, and is easily adopted for low cost type for mass consumption.

  • Publication number: 20090109466
Abstract: A technology is provided that suppresses a noise that an image forming apparatus makes in the course of an operation thereof from interfering with a user who is watching television. When a printer 203 receives a print command, the printer 203 performs a print job as per a normal mode if a commercial is being displayed on a digital TV 201. If what is being displayed on the digital TV 201 is not the commercial, the printer 203 suspends the print job until the commercial begins to be displayed.

  • Patent number: 7393078
Abstract: High image quality is maintained even on front and rear ends of a printing medium where deterioration in the image quality is more likely to occur due to reduction in conveyance accuracy of the printing medium. In printing on the front and rear ends, the printing medium being not supported by both conveying means respectively placed upstream and downstream of a printing point in a printing medium conveying direction, a print swath of a printing head and the amount of conveying a printing medium are reduced. Moreover, the reducing print swath and the reducing conveyance amount are designed to be decreased in the cases of selecting a printing medium for high-quality printing as well as a monochrome print mode where image distortion caused by deviation of ink-landing positions is more noticeable due to a small number of colors of ink to be used and low coverage thereof.

  • Patent number: 7284823
Abstract: The present invention provides a print apparatus and a printing method which enable high-grade images to be output at high speed without the need to drastically reduce the number of printing elements used to print leading and trailing end portions of a print medium. A first mask pattern used to print a middle portion of the print medium is different from a second mask pattern used to print the leading or trailing end portion of the print medium. The present invention thus eliminates the need to drastically reduce the number of printing elements used to print the leading or trailing end portion as with the prior art.

  • Patent number: 7161696
Abstract: An object of the invention is to enable the user to judge whether the print is executed or not by informing the user of a print time which is required for a printing process before starting the printing. The print time which is required for the printing process is estimated before starting the printing process on the basis of draw information based on a print document that is formed by an application and print set information at the time of executing the printing process of the print data.

  • Patent number: 7083245
Abstract: A reliable detection of optically detecting the type of recording media is achieved. A part of a support member for supporting an optical sensor is pushed against the surface of a sheet by a spring so as to maintain the gap between the sensor and the sheet surface. With this arrangement, a recording apparatus which is free from wrong detection is achieved regardless of a gap-varying factor, that is, the remaining amount of sheets. Also, by arranging a part of a light-shielding hood so as to abut against the sheet, wrong detection due to disturbance light can be prevented.

  • Patent number: 7036815
Abstract: A sheet material conveying apparatus is provided with retard levers for supporting a retard roller shaft, which are rotative centering on the central axis of rotation so as to press the retard roller to a conveying roller. Retard pressing springs are hooked to the spring latches of the retard levers, and the hooks of a slider. When the limiter gear of a torque limiter rotates, the tightening force exerted by a stepped spring against an inner race is caused to change, thus changing the rotating-load torque of the retard roller. A motor enables the limiter gear to rotate, while moving the slider up and down. In this way, it is made possible to change the rotating load torque of the retard roller, while changing the pressurized contact force of the retard roller against the conveying roller. With the structure thus arranged, it is attempted to make the life of rollers longer, and to prevent the occurrence of double feeding of sheet material.

  • Publication number: 20060044380
Abstract: In a printing apparatus which prints an image on a printing medium by alternately performing printing of an image on the printing medium by using a printing unit and conveyance of the printing medium relative to the printing unit, the conveyance amount in conveyance is corrected by using the first and second parameters for correcting the conveyance amount in accordance with different factors. This makes it possible to correct the conveyance amount in accordance with the deviation of the printing position due to the different factors.

  • Patent number: 6912063
Abstract: An ink jet recording apparatus for recording by discharging ink from nozzles of a recording head to a recording medium comprises a figure recording control section for executing recording control of figure draw commands for ruled lines and other figures, and a bitmap recording control section for executing recording control of draw commands other than the figure draw commands by developing bitmaps. For this ink jet recording apparatus, draw commands are individually controlled by the recording control sections, respectively, and at the same time, recording is performed by relatively moving in the intersecting two directions a recording head for discharging ink by the draw commands, and a recording medium held by a recording medium holding unit in the position facing the ink discharge surface of the recording head.
