  • Patent number: 6282677
Abstract: An interleaving apparatus is provided which stores input bits temporarily and transfers some of the bits only required to execute an operation to code each of the stored bits to a coding circuit. This allows a storage region to be decreased as compared with a conventional system.

  • Patent number: 5998967
Abstract: A lithium-ion battery pack, despite having a simple circuit configuration, allows the charge amount of the individual battery cells provided therein to be made uniform quickly. For each battery cell, a cell balance circuit is provided that includes a resistor, a transistor, and a control circuit. The resistor and the transistor are connected in series, with their end terminals connected to the two terminals of the battery cell. The control circuit controls the state of the transistor so that the two terminals of the battery cell are short-circuited through the resistor when necessary.

  • Patent number: 5986865
Abstract: A battery protection device has a charging circuit for charging a capacitor in accordance with an input signal so that the input signal will be distinguished from noise, and an output circuit for generating an output in accordance with the input signal. The battery protection device receives as its input signal a overvoltage detection signal, and the capacitor is charged in accordance with this signal. The output circuit outputs a signal for cutting off the battery charging path in accordance with the overvoltage detection signal. The battery protection device also has a latch circuit for latching the output of the output circuit in a state for outputting the charging path cutoff signal once the voltage across the capacitor exceeds a predetermined level, and an operation-responsive circuit for independently supplying an electric current to the capacitor in response to a predetermined operation.

  • Patent number: 5924188
Abstract: A manufacturing method is provided for forming a hollow cylinder with a bottom which may be employed in rotary head drums of magnetic recording and reproduction systems such as video tape recorders and digital audio tape recorders. The manufacturing method includes pressing a single circular plate to form the hollow cylinder, thrusting an end of a side wall of the hollow cylinder in a direction substantially parallel to the side wall in a press die so as to adjust the thickness of the side wall to be uniform, and machining an outer surface of the side wall of the hollow cylinder so as to have a given surface roughness and a given roundness.

  • Patent number: 5507657
Abstract: An electrical connector is adapted for mounting to a mounting surface of an electrical apparatus through the engagement of a vacuum-suction nozzle of a pick and place machine. The connector includes a dielectric housing having a first interface adapted to be positioned adjacent the mounting surface of the electrical apparatus, a second interface opposite the first interface and opposite side walls extending between the interfaces. A plurality of conductive terminals are mounted on the housing for interconnection to circuitry on the electrical apparatus. A removable cover is positionable on the housing over at least a portion of the second interface. The cover has a generally planar, smooth surface for engagement by the vacuum-suction nozzle. Slidable retention shoulders are provided between the cover and the side walls of the housing and are adapted to retain the cover on the housing with substantial force in a direction generally normal to the smooth surface of the cover.

  • Patent number: 5498167
Abstract: A low profile hermaphroditic electrical connector is provided for mounting on the surface of a first printed circuit board and is adapted to mate with an identical second connector mounted on the surface of a second printed circuit board to electrically and mechanically couple the boards together. Each connector includes a housing mounting a plurality of stamped female and male terminals. Each terminal includes a surface mounting portion for electrically engaging the respective printed circuit board, a mating portion adapted to mate with the mating portion of the terminal of the opposite gender of the other hermaphroditic connector, and a portion for holding the terminal in the housing. The mating portion of the female terminal includes two opposed, spaced apart contact arms. The arms and the terminal holding portion both project from the mounting portion. The mating portion of the male terminal includes a contact post adapted to be received between the contact arms of the female terminal.

  • Patent number: 5210619
Abstract: An A/D converter converts a composite video signal to a digital signal. A bandpass filter extracts a chroma signal-A sinX from the composite video signal in digital form. A delay circuit delays the chroma signal-A sinX by 1/4 fsc to output-A cosX. Delay circuits delay the chroma signal-A sinX by 1/2 fsc to output A sinX. A ROM stores values of -(1 - cos.theta.) and sin.theta.. Values of -(1 - cos.theta.) and sin.theta. are read from the ROM in accordance with a phase modulation amount .theta. of a voltage controlled oscillator. A multiplier multiplies a value of sin.theta. read from the ROM and A cosX output from the delay circuit. A multiplier multiplies a value of -(1 - cos.theta.) read from the ROM and A sinX output from the delay circuit. An adder adds outputs of the multipliers. Delay circuits delays the composite video signal output from the A/D converter. An adder adds an output of the adder and the composite video signal output from the delay circuit.

  • Patent number: 4666981
Abstract: A resin composition which comprises a coupling agent in an amount of about 0.5 part by weight to about 50 parts by weight against 100 parts by weight of a copolymer composed of an aminoalkyl acrylate and/or aminoalkyl methacrylate and an ethylenically unsaturated monomer. The resin composition excels, as compared with the conventional ones, in terms of any properties to be developed toward a wide range of various substrates inclusive of inorganic materials and plastic materials, such as adherence, water resistance, weathering resistance and yellowing resistance, and consequently are advantageously used in such fields as coatings, adhesives and printing ink.
