  • Publication number: 20080256028
Abstract: A computer system and method is disclosed that analyzes and corrects retail data. The system and method includes several client workstations and one or more servers coupled together over a network. A database stores various data used by the system. A business logic server uses competitive and complementary fusion to analyze and correct some of the data sources stored in database server. The data fusion process itself is an iterative one—utilizing both competitive and complementary fusion methods. In competitive fusion, two or more data sources that provide overlapping attributes are compared against each other. More accurate/reliable sources are used to correct less accurate/reliable sources. In complementary fusion, relationships modeled where data sources overlap are projected to areas of the data framework in which fewer sources exist—enhancing the accuracy/reliability of those fewer sources even in the absence of the other sources upon which the models were based.

  • Patent number: 7437188
Abstract: MRA data is acquired from a large, longitudinal region of interest by translating the patient through the more limited longitudinal FOV of the MRI system as a three-dimensional MRA data set are acquired. Patient table movement is controlled to track a bolus of contrast agent as it passes through the region of interest. A seamless image of the entire region of interest is reconstructed after correcting the phase of acquired MRA data to reduce the signal falloff at abutting longitudinal FOVs. Phase corrections are determined from the central DC views acquired during the scan.

  • Patent number: 7437337
Abstract: The invention relates to a system and a method for user-specific intuitive and secure control of operational inputs in software components with operational surfaces. Various operational elements on a surface can be reached with varying ease for the input of data, or for carrying out a confirmation action, for example, an OK click with the mouse. It is made easier or more difficult for an operator to carry out an input. The above is achieved, whereby input means, for example, a mouse are either drawn towards, or withdrawn away from the corresponding input regions. Erroneous inputs are thus avoided.

  • Publication number: 20080249677
Abstract: True Top Dead Center (TDC) of an engine piston is determined through determination of the Location of Peak Pressure (LPP) using either of two simplified algorithms. A Heat Loss Offset (HLO), drawn from a look-up table based on engine speed, molar mass of the air being compressed, and heat loss rate to the cylinder walls, is added to the calculated LPP to provide a corrected and true TDC position for each piston, which corrects for errors in target wheel tooth location of a camshaft position sensor and for any misalignment in the target wheel during installation on an engine. Preferably, such a calculation is carried out for each cylinder of a multi-cylinder engine during operation thereof, thus further correcting for machining errors in the crankshaft and for crankshaft bending during the life of the engine. The invention thus allows for more accurate combustion calculations for each individual cylinder.

  • Publication number: 20080217180
Abstract: The invention relates to a surface comprising a microstructure that reduces adhesion and to a method for producing said microstructure. Microstructures of this type that reduce adhesion are known and are used, for example, to configure self-cleaning surfaces that us the Lotus effect. According to the invention, the surface is produced electrochemically by means of reverse pulse plating, the known microstructure being first produced and a nanostructure that is overlaid on the microstructure is produced at the same time or in a subsequent step. To achieve this for example, the pulse length of the current pulse that is used during the reverse pulse plating lies in the millisecond range and has a pulse length ratio greater than 1:3. The microstructure that has been produced, consisting of peaks and troughs is then overlaid with peaks and troughs of a smaller size order belonging to the nanostructure.

  • Publication number: 20080208022
Abstract: The invention relates to a modified Laser Optical Feedback Tomography sensor (10) which comprises an evaluator (16) for the determination of an object velocity (vz) relative to the sensor (10). The primary optical frequency (fo) of light emitted by a laser (11) is shifted by a first frequency shift F in a frequency shifter (13) and focused into an investigation region (3). A moving object (2) in said region produces an additional Doppler frequency shift ?F in the light sent back from the investigation region (3) which is re-injected into the laser (11). Resulting intensity oscillations of the laser (11), which critically depend on the shifted frequency of the re-injected light, are detected by a detector (15). Finally, the evaluator (16) coupled to the detector (15) determines from the observed oscillations the Doppler frequency shift ?F and therefrom the moving velocity (Vz) of the object (2).
