  • Publication number: 20150032674
Abstract: Embodiments relate to growing a plurality of trees in parallel. An aspect includes creating, for each of a plurality of trees, a data bag based on a training data set comprising a plurality of data records. Another aspect includes splitting the training data set into disjoint data sub-sets; and storing each of the sub-sets in a respective data slice. Another aspect includes performing a single pass through the data records stored in a data slice, thereby identifying one or more of the current nodes that are assigned data records; calculating an intermediate result for each identified current node based on all data records of said data slice; and merging intermediate results into a combined intermediate result. Another aspect includes, for each of the current nodes: calculating a split criterion from the combined intermediate result; and creating two or more child nodes of the current node based on the split criterion.

  • Publication number: 20150021446
Abstract: The hanger member for supporting a conduit or bundle of wires is provided as a one piece unitary member. The hanger member has a planar first leg with an open recess extending inwardly from a first side edge of the first leg and a second leg coupled to the first leg along adjoining top edges defined by a fold line. The second leg has an open recess from a second side edge where the open recess is aligned with the open recess in the first leg to define a conduit passage. The bottom portion of the first leg and the bottom portion of the second leg are spaced apart a distance for connecting to the conduit. The top portions of the first leg and second leg are superimposed and continuous with each other for attaching directly to a support structure.

  • Publication number: 20150026194
Abstract: A method for finding a best matching string among a set of strings for a reference string includes representing, for each of the set of strings paired with the reference string, a dynamic programming problem for calculating a final alignment score as a matrix of cells, and calculating a current optimal alignment boundary threshold. The method also includes executing, for each string of the set of strings, a calculation of a prospective final alignment score of a candidate alignment of the each of the set of strings and the reference string for each cell. Based on determining, that prospective final alignment score improves the current optimal alignment boundary threshold, the method includes calculating a final alignment score for the string of the set of strings associated with the cell. Otherwise, the method includes aborting the calculation of a candidate alignment covering the string associated with the cell.

  • Patent number: 8934734
Abstract: Proprietary rights logos are detected in a video. The video is divided into a plurality of regions that are analyzed for generic proprietary rights logo features. A confidence mask is generated that comprises a plurality of scaling factors, each scaling factor corresponding to a region of the video and indicating a likelihood that the corresponding region of the video includes a proprietary rights logo. The scaling factors of the confidence mask are applied to the video data to generate an altered video. The altered video is analyzed to determine a confidence measure that the video includes a reference proprietary rights logo.

  • Patent number: 8930016
Abstract: Method for arranging rod-like elements including cigarette parts such as filter and tobacco parts, in which elements are delivered to a conveyor having successive sectors which arrange the elements in separate rows along the conveyor. The type, number and location of element transported on the conveyor are determined by at least a single scanning of each successive element on the conveyor. The scanned results are transmitted to a control unit which assigns each sector of the conveyor information according to its contents. The elements are subsequently sorted based on the information received by the control unit according to the type and the number of parts each element is composed of, the orientation of these parts in relation to the direction of movement of the conveyor. Each of the successive elements is transferred to a predetermined receiving area based on the information received from the control unit.

  • Publication number: 20150005452
Abstract: A method of forming a composition includes adding together a plurality of particle brush systems wherein each of the particle brush systems includes a particle and a polymer brush including a plurality of polymer chains attached to the particle. The plurality of polymer chains of the polymer brush exhibit two chain conformations as the degree of polymerization of the polymer chains increases so that the polymer brush includes a concentrated polymer brush region with stretched polymer chains and a semi-dilute polymer brush region with relaxed chains that is radially outside of the concentrated polymer brush region. The degree of polymerization of the polymer brush is no less than 10% less than a critical degree of polymerization and no more than 20% greater than the critical degree of polymerization. The critical degree of polymerization is defined as the degree of polymerization required to achieve a transition from the concentrated polymer brush region to the semi-dilute polymer brush region.
