  • Patent number: 11909603
Abstract: A virtual network function (VNF) controller (or module) instantiates two or more VNFs in a communication network to support a network service where the two or more VNFs include at least a first VNF and a second VNF. The VNF controller assigns a priority value to each VNF base on an overall network impact, a physical location of at least one network resource allocated to the respective VNF, a type of service to be implemented by the respective VNF and a customer impact based on how many customers would be using the respective VNF. The VNF controller monitors network resources allocated to each VNF. The VNF controller further determines the first VNF requires additional network resources and releases the network resources allocated to the second VNF based on respective priority values. The VNF controller further allocates the network resources released by the second VNF to the first VNF.

  • Patent number: 11906626
Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods that that mitigate avalanche photodiode (APD) blinding and allow for improved accuracy in the detection of a multi-return light signal. A blinding spot may occur due to saturation of a primary APD. The systems and methods include the incorporation of a redundant APD and the utilization of time diversity and space diversity. Detection by the APDs is activated by a bias signal. The redundant APD receives a time delayed bias signal compared to the primary APD. Additionally, the redundant APD is positioned off the main focal plane in order to attenuate an output of the redundant APD. With attenuation, the redundant APD may not saturate and may have a successful detection during the blinding spot of the primary APD. Embodiments may include multiple primary APDs and multiple secondary APDs.

  • Patent number: 11904502
Abstract: A process and system are provided for introducing chopped and dispersed carbon fibers on an automated production line amenable for inclusion in molding compositions, including the debundling of many carbon fibers collectively forming a tow into dispersed chopped carbon fibers that form a filler that undergoes plasma treatment prior to introducing coating silanes to uniformly increase bonding sites for coupling to a thermoset matrix. By exposing carbon tow to a plasma discharge, the carbon tow debundles and is used to form sheets of molding compositions with chopped dispersed fibers added to the composition, as the sheets move along a conveyor belt on the automated production line and at least one plasma generator mounted above the conveyor belt ionizes the carbon fibers. With resort to deionized air to mix plasma-treated chopped fibers, still further dispersion results.

  • Patent number: 11910205
Abstract: A wireless communication network receives a current message that relates to a user device for delivery to a network function. The network writes the current message to a queue. The network determines if the queue stores one or more prior messages that relate to the user device. The network transfers the current message from the queue for delivery to the network function when the queue does not store the one or more prior messages for the user device. When the queue for the user device does store the one or more prior messages for the user device, the network prioritizes the current message and the one or more prior messages by network function type and transfers the current message and the one or more prior messages that relate to the user device from the queue for delivery to the network function based on the prioritization.

  • Patent number: 11907253
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for providing backup protection. A first subnet is established for replication in a first cluster that includes a plurality of host devices. Each of the host devices includes a respective controller virtual machine, which together form a virtual local area network for replication. Each of the controller virtual machines is assigned an Ethernet interface. A replication Internet Protocol address is assigned to each of the Ethernet interfaces of the controller virtual machines. Route tables and firewall rules of the controller virtual machines are modified to allow communications between nodes of the first subnet. The first subnet is configured with information related to a second subnet for replication in a second cluster. A dedicated communication channel is generated for replication between the first cluster and the second cluster based on the configuring.
