  • Patent number: 4931857
Abstract: A voltage controlled comb filter comprises a 1 H delay circuit, an inverting circuit, and a mixing circuit. A playback carrier chrominance signal is delayed by the delay circuit for 1 H period and is inverted by the inverting circuit. The playback and delayed playback carrier chrominance signals are inputted to the mixing circuit which mixes these signals in proportion variable in accordance with the degree of a line correlation error signal. Therefore, there is no switching noise inherent in the conventional comb filter having a switch circuit used in a video tape recorder.

  • Patent number: 4764400
Abstract: A method of treating a body to produce a wood like appearance. A treating material is created by combining urethane mixtures aged different periods of time, from as little as one day up to five days, respectively. The combined mixture is allowed to flow into a water bath to create a line stream. The body to be treated is immersed in the water bath in the path of the line stream, removed and then dried. The treating material adhering to the body creates a wood-like appearance.

  • Patent number: 4570096
Abstract: In a device of the type of an Inchworm Translator as called by Burleigh Instruments, Inc., N.Y., an electromechanical driver for a shaft of the device comprises a plurality of electrostrictive layers stacked longitudinally of the driver with internal electrodes interposed. Preferably, each gripper or clamper for the shaft is of a like structure and comprises a pair of external electrodes on an outer peripheral surface thereof. More preferably, the gripper comprises either an electrically insulating and abrasion resistive or an electrically insulating and vibration damping film which defines a cylindrical inner peripheral surface of the gripper. The film is preferably divided into a plurality of film portions. The electrostrictive layers are preferably of a composition of a formula of (1-x)Pb(Mg.sub.1/3 Nb.sub.2/3)O.sub.3.xPbTiO.sub.3 where x is about 0.35. The electrically insulating and abrasion resistive film may be of either a plastic or a ceramic material.

  • Patent number: 4280854
Abstract: A semiconductor device is manufactured by covering a semiconductor substrate of a predetermined conductivity type with a polycrystal layer of a semiconductor material. Selected portions of the polycrystal layer are oxidized into an insulating material during heat treatment. Remaining portions of the polycrystal layer which are left unoxidized act as conductive portions. On manufacturing a bipolar transistor, ion implantation is carried out in a predetermined solid angle to introduce an impurity of an opposite conductivity selectively in a preselected one of the remaining portions. During the heat treatment, the impurity diffuses into the substrate only from the preselected portion to form a PN junction in the substrate. For fabricating an MOS transistor, an oxide film is preliminarily formed on the substrate selectively on an area on which a predetermined one of the remaining polycrystal layer portions is to be formed.
