Patent number: 7822416Abstract: Techniques are provided to allow global roaming between different devices in different networks, using different protocols. A system may contain one or more protocol dependent logic servers (PDLSs), in which each PDLS is associated with a particular network/network protocol. The networks may comprise one or more wired telecommunications networks, wireless communications networks, or Internet-based networks. When a first PDLS receives an incoming, protocol-dependent message comprising a first protocol from a first network intended for a user currently registered on another network, the first PDLS converts the protocol-dependent message into an incoming, protocol-independent message and forwards it to another network element, such as a core logic server (CLS). The CLS processes the incoming, protocol-independent message, generates an appropriate outgoing protocol-independent message and forwards this message to a second PDLS.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 2003Date of Patent: October 26, 2010Assignee: Alcatel-Lucent USA Inc.Inventors: Triantafyllos Alexiou, Kuo-Wei Chen, Ramana Isukapalli, Thomas La Porta, Kazutaka Murakami, Ming Xiong

Patent number: 7135915Abstract: In one embodiment, a filter with a main signal path having one or more biquadratic filter sections is tuned using a tuning circuit based on a biquadratic filter that can be configured to oscillate at the filter's cutoff frequency. In one application, a tuning circuit outside of the main signal path is used to tune each biquadratic filter section of the main signal path. In another application, each filter section along the main signal path has a biquadratic filter that can oscillate and corresponding tuning elements that enable the filter section to tune itself. According to certain embodiments of the present invention, a biquadratic filter is made to oscillate by applying a common-mode voltage signal to the inputs of the filter's third transconductor cell to make the cell's transconductance go to zero. The invention may also be implemented in the context of filters having ladder structures in their main signal path.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 2004Date of Patent: November 14, 2006Assignee: Agere Systems Inc.Inventors: James A. Publication number: 20010009724Abstract: Deposition of metal in a preferred shape, including coatings on parts, or stand-alone materials, and subsequent heat treatment to provide improved mechanical properties. In particular, the method gives products with relatively high yield strength. The products often have relatively high elastic modulus, and are thermally stable, maintaining the high yield strength at temperatures considerably above 25° C. This technique involves depositing a material in the presence of a selected additive, and then subjecting the deposited material to a moderate heat treatment. This moderate heat treatment differs from other commonly employed “stress relief” heat treatments in using lower temperatures and/or shorter times, preferably just enough to reorganize the material to the new, desired form. Coating and heat treating a spring-shaped substrate provides a resilient, conductive contact useful for electronic applications.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 29, 2001Publication date: July 26, 2001Inventors: Jimmy Kuo-Wei Chen, Benjamin N. Eldridge, Thomas H. Dozier, Junjye J. Yeh, Gayle J. Herman

Patent number: 5881129Abstract: A line circuit whose circuit components are selectively controllable by a microprocessor/DSP to provide normal BORSCHT functions or to be selectively tested without need for an electromechanical relay to isolate the line circuit from the loop conductors. The conventional line transformer is advantageously replaced by a loop current feed resistor network and either a high voltage or a lower voltage battery may be connected to provide loop current to the resistor network through a current regulator circuit and battery switch circuit. In normal operation, an ac feedback path, which includes the line receive amplifier, increases the terminating impedance above the dc value of the feed resistors so the loop termination resistor network may match the characteristic impedance of the loop at the audio frequencies employed.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 1996Date of Patent: March 9, 1999Inventors: Robert Kuo-Wei Chen, John C. Patent number: 5854839Abstract: A line circuit provides BORSCHT functions and supplies the customer loop through a feed resistor network and current limiter either from a high voltage battery to provide for maximum signaling range or from a lower voltage battery to conserve power. The current limiter operates under the control of a microprocessor/DSP which selectively applies or denies power to isolate or include components for testing and controls the switching in and out of transistors to control the scaling factor between the channel width-to-length ratios of the current mirror's input and output FET transistors according to the type of test or operating condition dictated by the microprocessor while the input reference current to the current mirror is maintained constant.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 1996Date of Patent: December 29, 1998Assignee: Lucent Technologies Inc.Inventors: Robert Kuo-Wei Chen, John C.
