Abstract: A recording medium recorded by a data structure adapted to link and reproduce audio data and video data, a method of recording /reproducing using the data structure and an apparatus for recording/reproducing using the data structure. On the recording medium, first data and second data, which are different from each other in type and formed of a plurality of data units, are recorded. A first data unit descriptor table and a second data unit descriptor table, in which information on the first data units and the second data units are respectively recorded as data unit descriptors, are recorded. A first program descriptor table and a second program descriptor table, in which information on one or more data units forming respective programs is stored in the program descriptor of the corresponding program in the form of information on respective data unit descriptors, are recorded.

Abstract: A DVD-Audio which includes a data zone for storing data to be reproduced and an information zone for storing information on the data to be reproduced. The information zone includes directories of a video title set (VIDEO_TS) and an audio title set (AUDIO_TS). The AUDIO_TS directory includes information on an audio manager (AMG) having information on audio titles. The data zone includes the audio titles each having an audio title set information (ATSI) followed by a plurality of contiguous audio objects (AOBs). The ATSI includes a plurality of audio stream attributes each having an audio coding mode, first to third quantization bit numbers, first to third sampling frequencies and decoding algorithm information relating to the number of audio channels. Each of the AOBs includes a plurality of audio packs recorded with audio data corresponding to the decoding algorithm stored in the audio stream attribute.

Abstract: An analog-to-digital (A/D) conversion apparatus using a delta-sigma method performs a magnitude control operation and a filtering operation with respect to a differential signal in a conventional A/D conversion apparatus. The A/D conversion apparatus includes a multiplier for multiplying a differential signal output from a differential circuit, a filter for filtering the differential signal and outputting a filtered data signal, and an adder for adding the signals output from the multiplier and the filter and supplying the added result to a quantizer. The factor used in the multiplier is selected so that the quantization noise generated is smaller than the quantization noise generated in the conventional A/D conversion apparatus. Thus, the A/D conversion apparatus provides a wider bandwidth than the conventional A/D conversion apparatus, since it generates relatively smaller quantization noise with respect to the entire passband.

Abstract: A DVD audio disk having information areas in which corresponding audio title information management tables are stored, and corresponding data areas in which audio packs of a linear PCM mode are stored, wherein a first, second or third number of quantization bits, a corresponding first, second or third sampling frequency, and information relative to the number of audio channels are all recorded on each audio title information management table. The audio pack includes audio packets made up with the number of quantization bits, the sampling frequency and the information relative to the number of channels all recorded on the title management table, the audio packets further containing audio data.

Abstract: A digital audio recording apparatus for formatting digital audio data and recording formatted data on a digital recording medium, so that digital audio data having a first sampling frequency and other digital audio data having a second sampling frequency being twice the first sampling frequency, can be reproduced in both a reproduction apparatus having an operating frequency, for digital-to-analog converting the first sampling frequency and that having an operating frequency for digital-to-analog converting the second sampling frequency. The digital audio recording apparatus transforms the digital audio data into transformation coefficients in a frequency domain, the transformation coefficients are formatted using one of predetermined recording formats.

Abstract: A digital-to-analog (D/A) conversion apparatus using a delta-sigma method performs an additional gain control operation in addition to a filtering operation with respect to differential data in a conventional D/A conversion apparatus. The D/A conversion apparatus includes a multiplier for multiplying the differential data output from a differentiator contained in a conventional D/A conversion apparatus and outputting the resultant data, a filter for filtering the differential data and outputting the filtered data and an adder for adding the output data of the multiplier and the filter and supplying the added result to a quantizer. The factor used in the multiplier is properly selected so that smaller quantization noise is generated than that added during quantization in the conventional D/A conversion apparatus.

Abstract: In an optical disk recording and reproducing apparatus, audio data compressed in MD format can be recorded on a CD-sized optical disk and can be reproduced from both mini disks and compact disks. A disk for reproducing, in which audio data compressed in MD format is recorded by forming pits on a CD-sized polycarbonate substrate, enjoys a long play back time.
