  • Patent number: 4798355
Abstract: A fishing reel apparatus having oppositely disposed bearings in which a tension coil spring is attached to a pivoting plate which is disposed between a clutch cam for engaging or disengaging the clutch and an operation member which is pressed down by the user to release the line. The pivoting plate is bidirectionally energized biased by the tension coil spring so that the pivoting plate pivotally moves to rotate the clutch cam. The directions of this pivotal movement is reversed opposite to one another relative to the dead point of the spring.

  • Patent number: 4773611
Abstract: A spinning reel for fishing is disclosed which can reduce the size of the reel as a whole and makes the reel more easily portable and packageable by moving forward the position of a casing without shortening the longitudinal stroke of a spool, and can let a handle shaft smoothly rotate when the reel is operated while being gripped by a hand together with a fishing rod, by bringing the position of the handle shaft close to a position immediately below a reel fitting leg.

  • Patent number: 4763856
Abstract: A fishing reel having a main body frame which latter includes a pair of opposed support plates, with there being an outer plate provided spacedly from one of the support plates. A spool shaft extends between the support plates and carries a fishing line spool thereon. A handle shaft extends between the outer plate and one of the support plates and is adapted for rotative movement. A motion transmission system is provided for causing the spool shaft to rotate respondingly to the rotation of the handle shaft. The handle shaft contains a retaining portion and a locking member engageable with the retaining portion on the shaft is presented so as to prevent axial movement of the handle shaft and thereby conduce to its stability.

  • Patent number: 4702432
Abstract: A spinning reel for fishing in which a drag adjusting knob produces an increased engaging force (holding force) so that it is prevented from escaping that may be caused when it is loosened, and which makes it possible to finely and reliably control the drag that may require a weak force of control.

  • Patent number: 4702431
Abstract: A spinning reel having a bail rotor rotably mounted on a reel body, a spool pin rotatably, and axially slidably, mounted on the reel body, a spool carried on the spool pin for rotation therewith and having adopted for windingly receiving thereabout a fishing line, a drag, mechanism mounted on said reel body, is operatively interconnected with said spool pin for permitting application of a drag force to the spool. The spinning reel also comprehends a measuring operation member adapted for rotating the spool, a measuring spring member connecting the measuring operation member and the spool whereby upon rotation of the measuring operation member the spring is stressed to establish a torque corresponding to the drag force set by the drag mechanism. A scalar indicator device is provided for indicating in terms of the set drag force the amount of relative rotation between the operation member and the spool before the same and jointly rotated.

  • Patent number: 4650161
Abstract: A spinning reel is provided with a line tension display unit including a display which may be either of analog or digital form. The reel includes a spool shaft for mounting of the spool, the reel body being provided with the line tension/display unit which includes a member swingable about the spool shaft and operatively connected to the spool shaft for swinging movement in response to tension in the line. A torsion spring resists such swinging movement. The swingable member causes the display to indicate the tension value. In analog form, the swingable member provides a pointer for showing line tension on a scale. In digital form, the display includes LED's or LCD's for display of discrete tension values. In one digital version, a microprocessor is used to drive the line tension display and to provide also time-of-day, stopwatch, alarm and line-breakage-warning functions.

  • Patent number: 4593869
Abstract: A double-bearing fishing reel includes a pinion which meshes with a drive gear provided on a handle shaft. The pinion is axially and slidably fitted onto a spool shaft which has a spool secured thereon and is supported between reel side plates. The pinion can be engaged and disengaged as desired with respect to a connection portion of the spool shaft by means of a clutch plate which is urged by a dead-point utilizing spring so as to reciprocate. The pinion is separated from the spool shaft by sliding the clutch plate from a clutch-engaging position to a clutch-disengaging position by a pressing motion of a clutch plate operating member projecting from one of the reel side plates, to enable a fishing line to be paid out. The pinion is re-engaged with the spool shaft by sliding the clutch plate from the clutch-disengaging position to the clutch-engaging position by turning the handle shaft, to enable rewinding of the fishing line.

  • Patent number: 4575024
Abstract: A fishing reel housing has opposed side plates between which a spool rotates to unwind line in a forward direction. A crank operated drive in one of the side plates is manually rotated to rotate the spool to rewind the line. This drive includes a friction coupling, gearing, and positive clutch between the gearing and spool. The positive clutch is disengaged by depressing a thumb member extending between and slidably mounted in slots in the side plates rearwardly of the spool. Depression of the thumb member operates linkage internal of the one side plate to disengage the positive clutch so that the spool may rotate freely in the unwinding direction. The clutch is reengaged by rotation of the crank operate drive which includes an means to release the clutch for reengagement with the spool so that continued rotation of the crank can rewind the line. The thumb member has a rear arcuate surface generally conforming to the rear edges of the side plates.

  • Patent number: 4463915
Abstract: A bail arm reversing structure for spinning reels for fishing, comprising bail arm support members made of synthetic resin having shaft portions pivotably fitted in bottom portions of bail arm mounting elements made of synthetic resin with flange portions formed integrally with the support members stably engaged with and supported on the bottom surfaces of the mounting elements and inner surfaces of cover plates fitted in the mounting elements. Since the bail arm support members are joined to the bail arm mounting elements without using screws, and, since no clearances exist between these support members and mounting elements, the bail arm can be pivoted smoothly, and the fishing line is engaged therewith reliably. The flange portions of the bail arm support members also serve as parts engageable with a kick lever.
