  • Patent number: 8658750
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method for separating from the reactor effluent of an olefin oligomerization procedure those catalyst materials and polymeric by-products which can cause difficulties in the downstream processing of such effluent. Polymer by-products and catalyst in the effluent are separated from reaction products by flash vaporization utilizing an in-situ hot solvent which is contacted with the effluent and serves as the heating medium to promote this flash vaporization step. Subsequent processing of a liquid portion of the effluent which is left after flash vaporization involves recovery of catalyst and polymeric by-products therefrom in a steam stripping vessel. Also disclosed is a multiple reactor system which can be used for continuous trimerization of ethylene to 1-hexene while at the same time washing polymeric by-products from one of the reactors in the series using a wash oil solvent.

  • Patent number: 8577370
Abstract: To perform handoff of a mobile station from a source wireless network controller of one wireless access technology to a target wireless network controller of a different wireless access technology, a first message for initiating a handoff is sent from the source wireless network controller to the target wireless network controller. The source wireless network controller receives, from the target wireless network controller, a second message responsive to the first message, where the second message contains information to enable identification of cell segments neighboring the target wireless network controller for which signal strength measurements are to be performed. In response to the second message, signal strength measurements made by the mobile station are received by the target wireless network controller.

  • Publication number: 20130282365
Abstract: In several non-English languages and cultures, such as Dutch and German, there is a formal and informal language form used to address a person. A device having a user interface is adapted for use with both formal and informal language. A user's preferred language form can change over time, and is determined directly or indirectly from characteristics of the user based on their use of the device, including how long the device has been used, a role of the user and/or his or her location. Another way of determining the characteristics of the user is to monitor the user's online behavior, including such data as social networking traffic, web sites visited, email and chat use, and the like. An application's user interface can be dynamically changed to use the current preferred language form.

  • Patent number: 8536433
Abstract: The present invention describes a harness apparatus for supporting objects, specifically stringed musical instruments, such as guitars, that allows the weight of the object to be borne by the hips and waist of the wearer and not the wearer's back, shoulders, and/or neck. The apparatus possesses a shapeable, padded rigid frame component that is associated with and rises from a padded waist belt component. The apparatus is profoundly adjustable and can be used by males, females, left-handed and right-handed persons. Advantages to an apparatus such as this include a reduction in back, shoulder, and/or neck strain, discomfort and fatigue that is normally associated with load supporting devices that bear the load's weight from the wearer's upper body. An equipment strap support loop is located on top of the inverted T frame. This support loop functions to replace the human neck and shoulders to support the equipment support strap.

  • Patent number: 8524972
Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to low temperature steam stripping methods for byproduct polymer and solvent separation from an ethylene oligomerization process. The methods disclosed have been found to separate byproduct polymer from solvent without fouling process equipment or causing other process problems. The byproduct polymer ends up as flowable solid particles in a water stream that may be easily discharged from the process, while solvent is recovered for recycle to the process. In embodiments of the invention, over 90 wt % of the solvent used is recovered and the discharged byproduct polymer is less than 20 wt % solvent.

  • Publication number: 20120330860
Abstract: A trading computer receives data regarding a change in the inside market for a product traded using a trading host. The computer determines a value of a highest bid price and a value of a lowest ask price and displays the values of the highest bid price and lowest offer price in a first and a second region, respectively, of a display. The trading computer also displays a plurality of values less than the value of the highest bid price in a first plurality of regions and a plurality of values greater than the value of the lowest offer price in a second plurality of regions. The location of the first region, the second region, the first plurality of regions, and the second region relative to each other remains constant even when the inside market changes.
