  • Patent number: 10739864
Abstract: A gesture to speech conversion device may receive indications of user gestures via at least one sensor, the indications identifying movement in three dimensions. A 2-dimensional (2D) plane on which a beginning of the movement and an end of the movement is substantially planar and a third dimension orthogonal to the 2D plane may be determined. A change of the movement in a direction of the third dimension in a course of the movement occurring on the 2D plane is detected. The change of the movement in the third dimension is mapped to an emphasis in the movement. The movement is transformed into speech with emphasis on a part of the speech corresponding to a part of the movement having the detected change.

  • Publication number: 20200209962
Abstract: A method modifies a user interface based on a user having nystagmus. One or more processors collect eye gaze data points of a viewer of a user interface that displays content. The processor(s) determine, based on the eye gaze data points, that the viewer of the user interface has nystagmus. Responsive to determining that the viewer of the user interface has nystagmus based on the eye gaze data points, the processor(s) modifies the user interface.

  • Publication number: 20200175231
Abstract: A method replaces original language in a language element with replacement language. A content clarification server receives at least one language element, and launches an auction bidding process for replacing original language in the at least one language element. The content clarification server determines a subject matter expertise of a user who provided the at least one language element, and restricts the auction bidding process to only content clarification providers who have the subject matter expertise of the user who provided the at least one language element. The content clarification server receives replacement language for the original language from one of the content clarification providers who have the subject matter expertise of the user who provided the at least one language element, such that the replacement language is a winning replacement bid in the auction bidding process. The content clarification server then replaces the original language with the replacement language.

  • Patent number: 10653883
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods, systems, and apparatus for treating a medical condition in a patient using an implantable medical device (IMD). The IMD is capable of generating a first electrical signal for treating a medical condition, for example epilepsy. The first electrical signal relates to a long term therapy during a first time period in which there is no indication that the patient's brain is in an stable state, the first electrical signal being a microburst stimulation signal. The implantable device is also capable of generating a second electrical signal for treating the medical condition. The second electrical signal relates to a short term therapy during a second time period, in response to an indication that the patient's brain is in an unstable state. The second electrical signal in one example, may be a conventional stimulation signal.

  • Patent number: 10656706
Abstract: A method modifies a computer-based interaction based on gaze data. One or more processors collect eye gaze data points to create an eye gaze corpus of information, where the eye gaze data points describe an eye gaze of viewers of a first set of at least one user interface. The processor(s) generate a plurality of clusters of viewers, and determine a target action performance for each of the plurality of clusters. The processor(s) collect, from a device having eye tracking technology, real time eye gaze data from a plurality of current users who are viewing a second set of at least one user interface, and segment the plurality of current users. The processor(s) then modify a computer-based interaction for at least one segment in order to maximize target action performance of the second set of at least one user interface.

Abstract: A vehicle monitoring system, includes a vehicle database, which includes information associated with a plurality of vehicles. The vehicle monitoring system also includes a sensor database, which includes information captured by a sensor of an observing vehicle, and one or more processors. The one or more processors may generate a request to determine information associated with a target vehicle and to transmit the request to the sensor in response to determining that the information captured by the sensor does not include the information associated with the target vehicle. The sensor captures the information associated with the target vehicle based at least in part on the request. The one or more processors may also receive and store the information associated with the target vehicle from the sensor. Further, the one or more processors may output the information associated with the target vehicle to a computing device.

  • Patent number: 10607044
Abstract: A multi-mode, preferably dual mode, radio frequency identification (RFID) tag is adapted for automatic detection of whether a RFID reader located within communication range of the RFID tag is transmitting a continuous wave (CW) or modulated wave types of RF signal, and accordingly, mandating a response from the tag in read-only (RO) mode or read/write (R/W) mode, respectively. The tag includes means for designating one of the RO and R/W operating modes as a default mode of the tag, and for switching the tag from its default mode to its other operating mode, and vice versa, according to a rule for determining the frequency of occurrence of a selected event related to signal type of the reader. A device-implemented method of this automatic detection, and a method of fabricating the tag, are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10572596
Abstract: A method identifies and filters winning clarifications of content. A content clarification server receives a language element from a client computer, and extracts and marks for clarification a concept among the language element. The content clarification server launches an auction bidding process for replacing original language associated with the concept, and receives sponsored alternatives to the original language from multiple content clarification provider servers. The content clarification server generates an organic alternative, and then assigns a score to each of the sponsored alternatives and the organic alternative. Based upon the respective assigned scores, the content clarification server identifies a winning alternative, which is delivered to the client computer as a replacement for the original language associated with the at least one concept.

  • Publication number: 20200056276
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a thermal spray alloy system that is more resistant to wear and/or corrosion than conventional alloy compositions. The disclosed alloys minimize or eliminate micro-cracks within the formed coating on the tool. The alloy comprises carbon, boron, and a fluxing agent selected from the group of aluminum, magnesium, or lithium. The alloy may also comprise titanium, silicon, manganese, molybdenum, nickel, and chromium, as well as other elements. The object to be coated may be any downhole component used in the oil and gas industry, or may be applied to any object or tool that needs an increased wear and/or corrosive protection layer including in diverse fields such as marine, chemical processing, and refining. A thermal spray coating with the disclosed alloy composition provides increased strength and resistance to spalling, breaking, cracking, deforming, and crack formation, as well as metallurgical bonding between the coating and the substrate.

  • Patent number: 10567654
Abstract: A light sensor system including a reference light source that moves in unison with a primary mirror and/or an inertial measurement device, and/or the reference light source is directed toward an obscured region of the light sensor system. The reference light source may allow for improved jitter compensation based on feedback of the reference light. The feedback may be representative of the elastic deformation of the optics and telescope optical axis. The improved jitter compensation may allow for the light sensor system (e.g., the housing and/or mirrors) to be built with less stiff materials, which can reduce the cost of manufacturing the present light sensor system compared to previously known optical sensor systems. In cases of high vibration levels which would otherwise degrade the resulting image quality after material stiffness property selections have been exhausted, the light sensor system may provide jitter compensation to improve video or still image quality.
